So, it's been awhile since I last updated. School has been piling up all over the place, but now that I've gotten two more exams out of the way and have actually started my Management term paper that's due in a couple of weeks, I'm feeling a little better about every thing I have to do. NaNo's been going pretty well considering things, though over the weekend I fell a little behind on my personal goals, as I was at Camp Brethren Heights with the Standing the Gap people for a Bible Retreat. I had a pretty decent time, but as I was stuck with 20-25 other people in a building that consisted of the two separate rooms for sleeping, the dining/game area and the rec room where we had all of our worship and lessons, I felt a little smothered, as I need my alone time on things like that, and on top of only having 4ish hours of scheduled personal/free time (everything else was doing something with the group), I felt like any time I sneaked away for a quiet moment, there was always someone already in the area I was retreating to, or it didn't take long for someone else to join me. Other than that, it was nice, and I did learn a lot about living the 'abundant life'. We're supposed to go over to my aunt's for Thanksgiving tomorrow, and I'm kind of looking forward to it, as it seems like all I do any more is job hunt/go on interviews, go to school and do homework, which really sucks. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if I had a more normal schedule, but because I'm taking 20 credits next semester and will have to take 4 classes May-June, I'm guessing it will have to wait until later this summer or next fall altogether. I'm glad I can squeeze the rest of my schooling into the time I have between now and May 2011, as it should cut down how much I'll have to pay back on loans, and it frees me up a year sooner than I anticipated to possibly move to an area where the job market is a little better, and prepare for graduate school without having to pay out-of-state tuition in order to go. :) ( Notes from Living the Abundant Life lessons, feel free to skip )

OMG you guys!!! I'm in the spoiler pics for AWZ's new year's episode!!!!!
Oh, also, this clip showed up on RTL today, one of the most gorgeous skating scenes AWZ's ever filmed. Biased, yeah, shup. But seriously, guys, I'm just blown away. Especially since this was the actors themselves, not skating doubles! I can't believe how good these two have gotten, especially DG -- he may hate skating, but of late he's shown a comfort on the ice that just leaves me gobsmacked. Go, look at the pretty!!

HPFandom.net... account suspended... any information to be had?
Per darlinggirl1263 on LJ: The account was suspended for "excessive CPU usage". The mod is working to get things back up and running. We'll just have to wait it out.
ETA: Had a couple of people asking for an older fic - meaning the ones I have not tagged here on IJ yet - so, I figured I'd just link you my LJ tags.
Jesus. I gotta make myself get those old tags done. I mean, it has only been two and one-half years, right? *hates that kind of stuff*

To be honest, I hadn't intended on posting anymore about BDSM. Not outside of fic, anyway. But someone asked the difference between kinky sex and Lifestyle. And the answers to this are endless. Especially if you try to use nothing but serious, technical type jargon.
Good thing we all know I'm not so great with sticking to the technical, huh?
So, let's look at this like a bowl of ice cream. ( Because, really, who doesn't like ice cream? )

I think you might have noticed my passing fondness (which, yes, was rapidly fanned into a full-blown obsession) for a certain German soap opera. Today is our birthday! Eskimo Kiss Project is one year old today!
I was going to gush about what an incredible, intense experience this has been (and I still might after I have my coffee), but right now I want to share my squeee! We're getting so much love there, including THE BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER EVER EVER!!!
Wish you all could see me beaming right now!!! (Or maybe not, it's probably kinda scary...)

…and I'm a submissive. As in, a contracted and collared sub to my husband, Matt. D/s, BDSM, leather, lifestyle, call it what you will. It is what it is.
Originally, I intended to post something like an introduction because, as my fandoms branch out, there are new people on my flist. And I tend to be loud and opinionated when it comes to head exploding kink fics. Figured offering some insight to me might help explain the tangent rants I sometimes have. Along with the fact that most, if not all, of my fics have some display of power dynamics, no matter how subtle.
I'm sure those of you who know me best find that to be an understatement. Heh.
This has morphed, through conversations with friends, into not only a hey, this is me post, but also one that, for lack of tact on my part, is a whoa! let's think about this before you write it post. Mainly because BDSM comes under enough fire without having misleading works of fiction floating around out there stirring up more trouble than they're worth.
And, honestly, not trying to be a bitch, but if a piece of fiction disregards the basic principles of safe, sane, and consensual they really are more trouble than they're worth. They set a stage for others, those not in the scene, that can lead to misunderstandings, arguments, and, most important, serious injury.
Not cool.
Not when it takes just a few lines of dialogue, or even implied conversation to lend believability and credibility to the work.
To that end, I've started a list. ( Which is actually quite funny seeing as I despise lists. )
Got questions? Ask 'em. I'd rather you ask me something embarrassing than you make my head go splodey in the next fic I run across.
* * *Whoa! Additional Lifestyle discussions taking place... irana is talking about consent, SSC, and RACK. You can read that post here. snapesgirl_62 is talking about polyamory. You can read that post here.

Well, I’ve totally not fallen off a rock or anything…..I’ve just had nothing to say! And guess what? …..I’ve still nothing to say!
Heh, I know that’s never stopped me before but I’ve been going for the 10 weeks of ‘no posting thing’ on my thingie – small things amuse me and I rather like to achieve achievable things, it’s what the Empire was built upon, that and meanness.
So how are you?

Watching an old Las Vegas rerun and, low and behold, Hal Sparks is guesting on the episode. As a relationship adviser.
Oh, Michael!

Ottawa is nice. Stable. Practical.
Montréal is not.
Montréal has shopping!
Mad crazy shopping that just sweeps you up and hijacks your credit card and you don't even care. Even department stores that you'd expect to be the same everywhere are sparklier in that city. Like the Bay. Even the boring old Bay, when it's plopped down in the middle of Ste-Catherine's, is suddenly magically filled with irresistible baubles and fashions that make me look fashionable.

... is definitely one of those things you talk about before doing it. Come on, people. Think before you write.

Twilight is invading all of my fandoms. WTF.

Conference sucked. My materials didn't arrive, so while all the other booths had fancy banners and slick handouts, I had business cards.
On the plus side, I bought sparkly silver and black tights and met Deniz Öztürk's younger brother. Which I know is crazy, Igor's not Turkish at all, but this guy was and he was the spitting image: same coltish arms, same lethally long legs, same lips... have you any idea how hard it is to talk business with someone that has those lips?

I keep meaning to update, but my life seems to consist of:
* dragging myself from bed to the coffee machine * staring dully at work for a few hours * falling deeper in love with AWZ (is that even possible?) * cursing the technical difficulties that complicate sharing of said soap * crawling into bed feeling like I'm behind on life * rinse and repeat
I wonder if writing EKP descriptions and commenting on vids counts for WriSoMiFu. Because I'm writing fuck all else these days. The month's half gone and plot bunnies are happily breeding, but actually sitting down and harnessing them? Writing, why so hard?
What's keeping me going is discovering just how AMAZING some people are! Get this: When the backdoor we were using to snag our video files from RTL was closed, some fabulous souls stepped in, including one woman in Slovenia who spent her entire weekend figuring out a different way for us to grab them. I'm just overwhelmed by the thought that somebody would do that for people they don't even know. Not only that, but we had other people--in Russia, in the U.S., in France--all offering what help they could.
Fandom, you seriously rock my world!!!
Of course, now that we've got this new method, I'm obsessed with going back and redoing the poor quality vids we posted for a week. If I don't, that will haunt me forever. Just like ep302 still does after nearly a year...
The best thing I did this week was entice the lovely aldiara into marathoning the most recent EKP playlist with me. ( Soaking in the bubbles. )
OK, enough blather about AWZ. There are other things on TV, yes there are! Like Merlin, which if you block out the first four episodes and say this season started with #5, is having a pretty kick-ass year! And that messy ending, YUMMMM! Like Misfits, the most wonderfully warped superhero series imaginable. Like my beloved Beautiful People just starting its second season, and I've just got my hot little hands on a copy. Simon, I've missed you!!!!
And there is real life as well, much as I want to avoid it. I'm off to Montréal in the morning. Grrrr. Normally I'd be all over a trip there, but going to hear a bunch of MBAs rattle on? Shoot me now.
But I probably should pack at some point.
And stop being curmudgeonly, yes.
