The Phoenix Flies is an LJ exodus fest, dedicated to increasing fandom participation and fandom fun on InsaneJournal. Whether you're new to IJ or have been here for awhile, you're more than welcome to join us as we make our new homes here.
Our 2007 debut was a huge success (check out the masterlist to see some wonderful fic and art), and we're starting a new round in 2008. There's plenty of stress involved in moving fandom homes, and this fest is not meant to add any to that load. Let's try to keep it fun and low-key – no writing the next Great Novel, no bewailing deadlines, and no worries!
Rules:
-All fics and art will be posted to IJ; we will open the community to moderated posting on March 15th.
-In this fest, anything goes – het, slash, gen, threesomes/moresomes.
-Fics should be 500-5000 words in length.
-Fics should be beta-read and properly formatted.
-Completed, beta-read fics should be submitted by March 15th. We'll post one or two a day.
Tentative Calendar:
January 21st - We will open the post to submit prompts. Remember, you aren't obligated to claim a prompt if you submit one! This post will be open until January 28th.
January 29th - Prompts are open for claim! We will gather all the submitted prompts and put them in one post and then the claiming starts, first come, first serve. Only two claims per person, please.
March 15th - Fics and Art are due; moderated posting is open! From March 15th on, we will post one or two pieces a day until all are posted! While you are procrastinating (that works the same way here as it does at LJ), check out our other events:

Friending Frenzy – Meet old friends and make new friends, because leaving LJ doesn't mean losing your friends list. (February 15-17)
Drabbleathon – Don't let the stress of moving depress your muse – drabble prompts will be posted for your inspiration, all weekend long, with prizes awarded to the authors of the most drabbles/drawbles. (March 22-23)
