Return of Phoenix Flies
Hi guys!

We wanted to announce that we will be doing another round of the [info]phoenix_flies exodus fest as the last one was a great success. From the results of the poll, and a few other factors, there will be a few changes this time around. Before we open up to receive prompts, we wanted to go ahead and go over those changes with you.

1. Due to the issues with GJ, the fest will only be hosted here this time around. If you do not have an IJ and still wish to participate, we will make arrangements for you, of course! Please leave a comment here or email us if this is an issue for you, but remember, accounts at IJ are completely free!

2. The event that was most popular with our members and watchers was the giving and fulling of prompts, which is the base of our fest so that's only natural, but we did have two other events that were popular, the drabble-a-thon and the friending frenzy. We will be bringing both of those events back as well this time around.

3. There was a very close vote in what you guys wanted to do with the abandoned or unclaimed prompts from the last fest, but we've decided to include them in this round along with fresh prompts, so if there was something you had your eye on last time around, feel free to claim it for this one!

4. This time you will not have to submit your story to the mods for posting, but the posting will be moderated. We will also not have any posting until the deadline has passed. What this means is once the deadline hits, we will open the community up for moderated posting. You can submit your fics and artwork at that time, but we will only approve of one or two posts a day (depending on the number of participants). This will solve the problem of sporadic posting in our last fest and also allow authors and artists to be notified when they receive comments if they choose.

5. We will no longer be cutting and hiding spoilers for Deathly Hallows.

We still want this to be a fun-filled stress-free fest like the last round so anything goes! Slash, gen, het, whatever. Fics should still be at least 500 words and beta-read and art should be a bit more than a drawble, but really, we still want this to be low-key and fun.

Dates:

January 21st - We will open the post to submit prompts. Remember, you aren't obligated to claim a prompt if you submit one! This post will be open until January 28th.

January 29th - Prompts are open for claim! We will gather all the submitted prompts and put them in one post and then the claiming starts, first come, first serve. Only two claims per person, please.

March 15th - Fics and Art are due; moderated posting is open! From March 15th on, we will post one or two pieces a day until all are posted!

The friending frenzy will be held in February (Dates TBD) and the drabble-a-thon will be held in March (Dates TBD).

Questions or Comments? Please leave a comment here or email us at festmods at yahoo.com

Thanks everyone! We're really looking forward to another great fest!

I'm pleased you decided to keep the unclaimed prompts as well as adding new ones. Seems like a great mix. And hooray for the friending frenzy! :)

Maybe I'll even be brave enough to write something this time around.

Yes, you definitely should! :D Fics only have to be a minimum of 500 words, so its very low pressure.

Hmmmm ... I've never entered a fest before, but I'm seriously considering this. (The words "fun-filled" and "stress-free" are very tempting.) I'll be on the road with my dad on the 29th so I'm not sure about Internet access, but I'll see what I can do.

You should completely enter! :D And I wouldn't worry about not having access on the first day--last time we had plenty of prompts and some that even were never claimed, so I'm sure they'll be plenty left on the 30th. If you're worried that you won't be around at all during the first few days of claiming, I can see if we can work something out for you, have someone claim on your behalf or something like that.

You know, I might have to take you up on that. I'm leaving on Jan 26 and I won't be back until Feb 6. But hopefully hopefully I will be able to sneak online at some point, else I'll go stark raving maaaaaaaaaad!!!!!!!!!!

Haha! I know exactly how you feel.

I've just sent a query to my other two mods about someone claiming on your behalf or what else we can work out for you, so I'll let you know!

Also--your icon! *snickers*

I've checked with the other mods, and we're going to make an announcement when we open up to accept prompts, but I wanted to go ahead and let you know that it's okay if you want to have someone claim something on your behalf when we open up for claiming. :D

This should be fun! I'm excited. Maybe if I find a prompt that inspires me, I'll write for this fest and not wait until the drabble-a-thon.

I won't be writing, but I'll give out some prompt ideas!!! :) does it matter the characters? Or can we use anyone in the ideas?? ::MV::

Oh yay! That's great! :D No, you can use any character in the prompts! We are going to ask that if possible you make them non-ship specific so the writer or artist can have more possibilities with the prompt, but other than that, go wild!

The Open for Prompts post is here. You can leave your prompts in the comments to that entry. :)

Looking forward to the next round! The first round really got me started on the whole writing thing again - now I'm hooked.

Also - I like that we'll now be able to track when people comment on our stories - I almost missed the last one or two on mine.
