LMOM 2011: Day 26
Just got off the train from BEA at New York City with time enough to post today's before it turns midnight my time. Whew!

Regretting not taking a broom, Remus was out of breath by the time he reached the mouth of the cave outside Hogsmeade. But he grinned when he saw Sirius there, a rush of excitement filling him. “Hi there.”
“Morning,” Sirius replied, even though it was nearly noon. Living in a cave had probably made him lose track of time. “Did you bring…”
“Food? Yeah. But first…” Remus strode over to the back of the cave and bowed low to Buckbeak. Buckbeak eyed him uneasily for a moment, perhaps sensing the werewolf blood in him. Sometimes Remus had trouble around magical creatures. But then the hippogriff bowed its head to him.
A moment later, both of them relaxed. Remus went back to Sirius and Buckbeak started devouring a dead white rat. “Thanks for the letter,” Remus said softly, not knowing how exactly to start this. “I’ve been worried about you since your escape.”
“I’ve been worried about you, too.” Sirius took Remus’ hands and drew him close. “Have you been able to find work?”
Remus shook his head. “I’ve been careful drawing from my savings.”
“I’ve got money, Remus. You know you’re welcome to draw from my account any time. You know my vault number.”
“I don’t want your money,” Remus whispered. “I just want you.” Excited, he moved in to kiss Sirius.
A hacking sound from the back of the cave startled him, and he looked over to see Buckbeak finishing off the rat and moving on to the next one. Remus’ body calmed again. As much as he loved and cared about Sirius, there wasn’t enough lust in him to make him want to have sex while a potentially violent hippogriff ate dead rats beside him. Remus sighed and closed his eyes. “I can’t do this here.”
Sirius nodded, understanding. He leaned forward and kissed Remus with a tender touch, despite the rough stubble he sported from days of not shaving. “You brought food though?”
Remus chortled and pulled out the bundle he’d brought. It wasn’t much, just a few drumsticks and an apple, but Sirius looked at it hungrily and dug in. As he did so, he found Remus’ hand and squeezed it. “Mmmmmm.” Sirius closed his eyes with bliss as he swallowed. “You always knew just what I wanted.”
“Did I?”
Sirius nodded. “I remember that one time when I was ill you smuggled a butterbeer from Hogesmeade to me through the passageway to warm me up. And then I lied and said I wasn’t warm enough, so you got right into bed to nurse me back to health all weekend.”
“I remember that, Snuffles.” Remus pressed a finger to the tip of Sirius’ nose.
“Or that time I was having a shitty day and I went to bed to find you there, lying naked, waiting for me.” He got a slightly faraway look in his eyes for a moment at that memory. “That was bloody amazing. I didn’t even know some of those things you did to me were possible. That cheered me right up.”
“I bet your definition of a bad day is a little different now, isn’t it?”
“That’s true.” He was quiet for some time. Then Sirius squeezed Remus’ hand again. “But today… today’s a good day, thanks to you.”
