Her reasons for coming to this place was mostly to escape the drama of her circle back home. The demons, the witch hunters, the dark magic circle of hell that wanted to rip them apart. But in leaving behind the circle, she was also leaving behind her best friend. So while she didn't miss the constant almost death experiences that just didn't seem to stop, she certainly missed Faye and the non-magic trouble she could so easily get them into. Being a witch meant you could make things what you wanted, but it didn't feel the same without her partner in crime. She had yet to make any girlfriends on the island, so she threw herself into a garden, quietly expanding it and organizing it. Their numbers were growing, so she was concerned they were going to have to expand it once again. She had it organized in a way that made sense in her head, and everyone else was just going to have to figure it out. She didn't think it was going to be any trouble. It was actually getting quite large, and it took work to care for it, even with magic on her side. That morning she had gone out and dug up some arugula that she had found the day before, and had brought it back to the garden, to a section she had prepared for it. She mostly left the plants to grow naturally, but when she transplanted them she always used a little magic to make sure they would actually take to the new location. Once she had the plant in the ground, Melissa stood up and brushed the dirt off of her hands. She looked down at the plant, and after a minute, it began to grow at an unnatural pace, expanding, digging its roots into the ground and creating new green. It only lasted for a few seconds, before Melissa was satisfied that it was health for now. She really wished she had a garden hose. Or at least a bucket of some kind. Though that was probably creating more work for herself in the long run. Instead she focused on the air around and above the garden, using her magic to pull out the moisture in the air and causing it to start to rain right above the garden. She was always careful here, the images of Faye almost destroying the Chance Harbor Waterfront with her thunderstorm still in her mind. Melissa sat down on the ground, leaning back on her hands as she watched her mini rain shower take the place of a garden hose. |
