It was unselfish.

Weirdly.

The LAWC, getting there, seeing what had happened, finding Cathy gone and Clary injured, letting people know, and then the plan, the plan to lie, pretend she was angry, missing the dark, lie with the truth like usual. Castiel had known instantly and it bothered him, of course it did, maybe it bothered her too, how easy it had been to turn to lies again. How easy Lilah had been to convince not for the stupidity of the woman but because it was entirely likely to most of LA that she'd turn to Wolfram and Hart. For the power, but tempting as it was she had Castiel. and he wasn't trying to change her like she'd hinted to Lilah. No he was trying to help her.

And the plan was sound.

Not to mention she was doing it for Cathy. She'd meant what she said to Clary. Cathy of all people didn't deserve what had happened to her. Taken, likely by the bitch they were going to meet just for what, falling in love. It didn't make sense. Cathy was a genuine good person and if Ruby could help in her rescue then she would.

Knife twirling in one hand and a nonchelant expression on her face, Ruby finally reached her destination. The building scheduled for demolition ever since she'd helped it along its path there. In good time for Faith to arrive and hide, and for Lilah to get here, she'd turn and run but Ruby wasn't hiding her power anymore. Lilah wasn't getting anywhere until they knew for sure. It was a bit of a pity, she liked the CEO, but it was likely Lilah would understand, be irritated of course, but understand.

And Faith...

Well she didn't know about Faith. But that was the risk she was taking just by being here.

In truth Lilah was feeling faintly unsettled. There had been nothing from Lindsey with regards to his wife's disappearance, which either meant that he was still several steps behind or...

Actually, Lilah couldn't think of another reason. It made no sense, from either Team Good Guy or Team Evil's perspective not to go straight to her. She was at the very top of the food chain, in this dimension at least and really, she was annoyingly vulnerable considering. No strength. No immortality. No magical ability. Just a weak and admittedly ruthless human being.

The meeting with Ruby was both unexpected and not so. She did seem to be playing for the white hats these days but who knew? Who indeed really knew with her and that alone made the risk worth taking. And if it turned out this was an attempt to get information about Mrs McDonald?

Well, that was all above even Lilah's pay grade. She was faintly uncomfortable with that herself. She had pledged that any action wouldn't be personal, but even she had balked at that the command that came across her desk a mere twenty minutes before action was taken. She had no grudge against Cathy, and hadn't planned on making any move against her unless forced. But when the Senior Partners tell a girl to sign the papers, she signs. Morals and ethics, even scraps of them be damned.

She reached the destination, her car waiting a few blocks away. She was only half surprised when she saw Ruby standing there with a knife. With a faint smirk she glanced over her shoulder to see Faith moving from the shadows to block her exit.

"Yes, well, of course."

The Slayer was friends with Cathy McDonald. Of course she would be there, all outraged and feisty.

"So is there a way we can do this without getting blood on the Gucci?" She gestured at the suit. "The dry cleaning bill is a bitch and I doubt I'd get it on expenses."

Faith said nothing, merely glaring daggers at Lilah before she nodded briskly at the demon. "Do what you need to do."

Ruby liked Lilah even more she decided, just for that reaction. She hadn't entirely suspected but it had been a possibility what Ruby would do. it was a reasonable assumption.

"It was one of the possibilities. Well done for still showing though. Nice to know I'm so head hunted, and I really do like you, this...its just y'know. We should...what is it? Do Lunch?"

At the mention of doing this nicely and with the nod from Faith Ruby stepped forward knife in hand, the other holding Lilah in a loose telekinitic grip. She took her time and looked over the CEO, spotted the tiny little chain and its even tinier little trap pendant.

A flick of the knife broke the chain and sent the charm to the floor. Ruby was fine with it there, wasn't beside her anymore. Wasn't in her way.

"This is gonna hurt" she said softly and inhaled sharply, exhaling and leaving the brunette coma body in almost one breath. Black smoke swirrled around the scene for a moment before inhabiting the CEO.

Ooh. Those shoes had looked too pretty to be comfortable but they appeared to be both.

She looked down at the body for a moment and then up at Faith, speaking with Lilah's voice fully aware of what the Slayer might do to the body that had aided in the affair. Call it a trust exercise.

"Prop me up against a wall or something would you, thats a little undignified. And then tell me what you want from her?"

Lilah shrugged slightly and didn't bother fighting the removal of the protective charm. There wasn't any point, not against the demon and the Slayer, both of whom could beat her to a bloody pulp without breaking a sweat. And her head did come off rather easily these days.

She watched the black smoke swirl out of the body and come towards her before forcing its way into her.

Ruby had been right. It hurt.

Faith watched the scene with almost complete detachment. Professionalism, that was the name of the game here. Not taking advantage of the fact that the body her boyfriend had been sucking on all those months was right there and vulnerable. The one no doubt writhing and gasping as they had that sordid affair. How easy it would be to slit her throat and leave her as nothing now.

There was a beat before she shrugged, moving to shift coma girl into a more comfortable and dignified position, looking back to Lilah-Ruby.

"I want to know what she knows about where Cathy is, who took her and what they intend to do with her. And how we can get her back. And don't go gentle with her. Then make sure she won't wake up for a day or two."

Harsh? Brutal? Maybe. But the Slayer knew how to cover her tracks. She had grown up with the mob after all, watching some of the most brutally efficient men cover savage murders. Wolfram and Hart couldn't know what had happened here and she knew just how to do it.

Everything Lilah was was exposed in her mind, something she hated with a deep passion. She didn't try to fight the possession, knowing how futile that was, even as she forced her rage at being so vulnerable as far down as she could.

How much she knew about Cathy.

That wasn't exactly much.

The names of the lackies, the dumb ass flunkies who were pretty much useless. Names, locations. But more importantly, she knew the mystic, the one aiding and shielding the others, the one with the real power. The one she had signed the release form for. She knew his name and where to find him.

That was less good.

Ruby knew the look the Slayer gave her body and glanced over worriedly, black eyes looking decidedly strange on the CEO of Wolfram and Hart. She could have done anything to it, Faith held all the cards as far as this moment went and as far as Sam went and Ruby knew it. And just for a moment she was terrified as to what the Slayer might do.

But the moment passed and her body remained intact. That was something at least.

"Thanks" she said, and she didn't mean for moving her body. Faith would know precicely what she meant. She didn't pause too long though, sifting through the memories...oh, bad business with her Mother, there really had been kinky White Hat love and...very kinky...Go Lilah.

"Mystic guy, I have his last location and a name, and one seriously pissed off CEO. Sound about right?" she asked Faith.

She'd wait before vacating, Lilah though...she didn't go as rough as Faith wanted but possession was still possession. And to knock out a conciousness, especially a fighting one. The struggle could momentarily be seen in her expression before she tensed the muscles in her neck and readjusted her posture slightly.

"She won't wake up for at leat two days."

Whatever Faith had been tempted to do, the moment was gone and she wasn't going to act on it. So when Ruby thanked her, she simply nodded brusquely.

Her expression remained tight as she waited for Ruby to go through the CEO's mind for the things they needed, the vital details straight from the power itself.

"Right," she grabbed some paper, scribbling down the details as they came out. Typical lawyer really, always with the paperwork. When a signature can bind the soul, it was always key to make sure you knew what you were signing.

Keeping Lilah out for two days was a good plan. "I've got that covered," she nodded grimly. "Already sorted out a nice hotel room for her to rest up in. Paid for under one of my aliases for the next three days with very strict 'do not disturb' instructions." Her lips twisted into a mirthless smirk. "You pay enough for a place, they listen to whatever you want." Her own money. Under one of her fake IDs and in no way traceable to Faith Lehane.

"You grow up with the mob, you learn a few things about covering this stuff up."

Mob, not something she knew a lot about in the context Faith meant it but she got the idea. She repeated the information making sure they had everything they needed and then sat down, she'd do the lawyer the courtasy of not having her fall on her ass.

"I think thats everything we need, she'll be out of it, need be I can walk her in to the hotel myself or we can drag her in saying she's drunk or whatever, no one's gonna ask questions, no one ever does do they? Still not sure why you're paying for this for her off your own back but I get the idea behind it and thats enough for me"

She looked over at the eeirely still coma girl she inhabited and expelled herself from Lilah, the cloud of black smoke rushing back into the coma girl who came to life in a rush to breathe. She took a few seconds readjusting to the body, Lilah had been taller, before standing up.

"Good job I think" she told the Slayer and moved to where Lilah had slumped, still breathing of course. "Ready to move her"

She didn't say it of course, but the wry smile on her lips gave her away, they made quite the team, pity about all the betrayl really.

That was it, job done. Efficiently too. It was frustrating that Lilah hadn't known anything that would actually help get Cathy back, but she had still given up everything she had known and would now be out of it long enough that the Senior Partners wouldn't mobilize.

The last of the details were written down, along with the hotel Lilah would be in and under which name. As soon as Lilah was secured, Faith would drop the whole file off at the Welcome Center.

"You pay enough for a place like this and no one asks anything," she smirked faintly. "And I'm paying because we need her secured. The motorbike fund can take a bit of a dent for now."

It almost pained her to admit it, but she and Ruby made a good team. They worked well together and did know each other's strengths. If it wasn't for the affair, they could have been really close.

Looking down at Lilah, she let out a long sigh, some though not all of her tension leaving her. This plan hadn't been fun. Actually, it had involved dragging herself through the emotional wringer and Ruby had managed to get her where it hurt on more than one thing. Still, it had paid off and it was worth it, even if she did now want to drag herself off to lick her wounds in more than one way.

"Yeah, let's get her sorted." She moved to help carry Lilah in a way that would scream 'drunken friend' at the hotel. Job done.
