Jo grinned at Ben and carefully set a piece of pie on top of his tray that was already pretty loaded with various foods that couldn't be seen as anything other than junk. She grabbed one for herself and managed to balance it on top of the two large pops that were on her tray, the only place that was semi flat in the mass of fries, hot dogs, candy and even a slice of pizza. From the corner of her eye she was vaguely aware of the mother type in the cafeteria line behind them giving her a look. The "you can't be serious" mother type look. Jo just shrugged a bit to herself and carefully slid her and Ben's trays along to pay. So they probably had a month's worth of calories and other evil food products between them, it wasn't like they ate this much junk everyday. Besides they were at Knotts Berry Farm, if you couldn't stuff your face with food of absolutely no nutritional value there, then where?
She paid for the trays of food and made sure Ben could handle his tray before pointing out a free table not too far from the register. They'd spent the better part of the day on the rides but in the crowd rush of late afternoon decided to take the time to load up on food to get them through until close.
Jo unloaded her tray a little, digging the straws for the pops out and the ketchup packets she had tossed on it earlier for the fries. The day had been pretty good so far, while she had wanted Ben to have something to keep his mind off his dream this was as much a distraction for her as it was for him. It hadn't been hard to figure out that Uriel had visited Ben like he had most of them, and the whole idea of it made her blood boil. It had taken every last ounce of self control she had to not call Uriel out on it, she had told Dean after all she would at least try to stay out of it for the time being. But Ben was just a kid, completely undeserving of having that jackass invade his dreams. Even worse was the knowing that Uriel probably didn't go easy on Ben either just because he is a kid. It made Jo sick to think about what he could have said or done. She wouldn't ask though, she had promised Ben this would be a fun thing, not a talk thing, she wouldn't go back on that, unless he initiated it. Mostly she just wanted him to be able to forget the craziness that were their lives, even just for a day. And it would keep her from giving into the temptation of telling Uriel just what she thought of his latest dream hopping.
"I bet the line for the boomerang will die off a bit when the show comes on, we can probably get a few more turns on it then," she pointed out as she drowned her fries in ketchup. She had been glad to realize that she could still handle rides as well as she had been able to as a kid, when she used to ride the zipper at the state fair twenty times in a row.
