The last few days had been spent practicing her shooting, sticking around the house. She hadn't really felt like going out. And now the shock of his proposal had finally set in. Could she really be a wife, a good one at that? It was something she'd never imagined before. Of course she knew it was logical and a natural thing they should do. She didn't want to be with anyone else and she was certain he didn't either. Abby had just never entertained the fantasy of marriage. Now it was no longer a fantasy, it was part of her real life.
She wasn't having cold feet, not at all. Hell, the wedding wasn't even planned yet. Truth was it probably wasn't going to be much of a wedding. They only really knew Brennan and Booth. While she couldn't deny the thought of getting married to him did make her smile she was just shocked it was happening. That, tacked on with this whole Drake thing had her mind in a chaotic mess. She hadn't slept much the last three nights. But she'd stayed in bed to keep from waking Hannibal. Tonight she hadn't been able to just lay there.
So here she was, couple empty beer bottles on the coffee table in front of her and an empty container of Chinese food that had been the remnants of dinner. Her feet rest on the edge of the table, knees bent, arms resting on them, game controller in her hands. Her fresh bottle of beer was sitting between her legs, occasionally she'd pause the game or wait for one of those annoying little movies they played during to steal a sip.
Booth and King both seemed enamored with this game Halo, so she figured why not give it a shot. So far, she'd sucked wonderfully at mastering the art of first person shooter games. Her eyes stayed focused on the screen as she played, the volume down low so as not to wake anyone, her Ipod earpiece in her ear, blasting her tunes she usually hunted to. But no matter how lousy she was at the game it was taking her mind off of everything, which was what she needed at the moment.
Finally, she managed to get somewhere in the game and chuckled, reaching down she grabbed her bottle and took a triumphant sip.
