Jack was nervous. Probably overly so. Buffy had reassured him that girls really weren't as difficult as guys made them out to be. Still boy brain was in full swing. He was making himself nervous and his palms were all sweaty. He couldn't stop thinking that the whole thing was going to end up as one big disaster. He wanted it to go well, but he cared so much about Kira he wanted it to be a night she'd never forget.
So he had to forget for a while before he ended up making a fool out of himself while he waited. Or you know, burnt a whole in the floor pacing himself silly. Or sent Kira an unnecessary text message or ten. Being clingy and worried was not something suave hero types like him did (so he wanted to think.). So he distracted himself with Charlie. She was always around, always there when he needed to talk to her..and he took advantage of that and confided in her. His fears, dreams, goals, she almost knew him better than Z did-after all they were trapped in alternate universe hell togetherm were both SPD..it was natural theywere close. He Even occasionally looked for her advice. After all she was still A squad. That by definition meant more experience to someone like him in B-squad. He kept conveniently putting on the back burners that she had betrayed SPD. Betrayed him once already. That she'd practically handed them to the Troobians. He wasn't thinking clearly and hadn't been for a while. He didn't realize just how much she affected him.
He didn't realize just how much his feelings had grown for her or how they'd twisted into something dark, how he'd been blatantly ignoring the warnings of his friends for her. That there were feelings at all actually. Jack felt something between them, but it was indescribable. It was different than what he felt for Kira, or Buffy and Z. It wasn't love it was lust. An undeniable physical attraction he didn't realize existed until they were together. He didn't realize what he was getting himself into by waiting at her door hours before his date. So he knocked, and he waited.
