There are four wizarding channels broadcasted through Wivi. Wivi 1: News 24hrs a day MONDAY WI-VI UPDATE | [Genre: 24hr News | Airs 24hrs on Wivi 1] A news show which parallels it's WWN counterpart in many aspects, including broadcast time and length of shows. It is known for being far less biased in terms of reports, particularly in regards to the Ministry, as Wi-Vi has no official ties to Britain's wizarding government. VISITING HOURS | [Genre: Drama | Airs: Mon-Fri @ 2pm on Wivi 4] A soap opera revolving around the lives of the staff members of a fictional hospital, Magellan's Magical Medical Centre. Though it's primary cast are the mediwitches and healers who work at the hospital, there is a shift during the summer months to indulge a younger audience my focusing on stories about the children and younger siblings of the staff. THE DUELING WARS | [Genre: Dueling | Airs: Mon & Thursdays @7pm on Wivi 3] A weekly professional dueling telecast. Professional Dueling is a simulated sport that consists of magical duels combined with acting and theatre. The show has brought acclaim to a number of dueling personalities- whose exaggerated characters and costuming have appealed to audiences of all ages. While each duel is ostensibly a competition of magical skill and strategy, the goal of each duel from a business standpoint is to excite and entertain the audience. Although the competition is staged, dramatic emphasis can be utilized to draw out the most intense reaction from the audience. REAL WITCHES OF KENT | [Genre: Reality Show | Airs: Monday's @ 6pm on Wivi 2 ] Following the lives of Nadia Carmichael, Morgan Penrose, Claudia Carrow, and Denise Yaxley through their lives as wealthy socialites. Struggling with raising children, shopping for the next "hot" magical wardrobe, and social expectations. Nadia is a newly married socialite. Morgan, Claudia, and Denise are of old money. They all hate each other, but pretend to be the best of friends. The only duo that seems to actually care about each other are Morgan Penrose and Nadia Charmichael who had been friends since Hogwarts. Who will hex first!? Who will be hexed!? | Executive Produced by: galer MUGGLE MOVIE NIGHT | [Genre: Muggle Ent | Airs: Monday's @ 8pm on Wivi 4 ] Sunday evening is a nod to muggleborns, and the technology which inspired WICoN. The show is hosted by a witch and wizard who introduce the muggle movie which will be presented, usually with a brief explanation about muggle-specific topics that are introduced in the film that might be unfamiliar to wizards completely lacking in muggle knowledge. At the end of the movie the hosts return to announce the choices for the next movie to be aired, and viewers have an opportunity to owl in their vote for which film they want to see. The story revolves around a small group of students attending the fictional school, HOGWALES, which is quite obviously a mock-up of the famous UK facility, Hogwarts. The show revolves around students in the school Choir as they deal with the dramas of exams, dating, pre-marital sex, drugs, and what rock n'roll ballad they'll sing for their next in club assignment!? This is a subtle comedy spin off of My Life At PigFarts | Executive Produced by: galer LOCKER LUCK | [Genre: Comedy Sitcom | Airs: Tuesdays @ 8pm on Wivi 4] The comedy of fictional quidditch team, The Luck Dragons. Filled with dialogue hilarity, social commentary, and physical comedy the show is hailed as a Wizarding World favourite. Famous quidditch players frequently guest star. CONFESSIONS | [Genre: Drama | Airs: Wednesdays @ 8pm on Wivi 2] A story of sexual intrigue following vampire brothers Sebastian Colson and Les Farmer. Their undead bond begins to come unhinged when the sexy witch, Britt Johnson, comes between them. Twist, sex, angst, and violence make this a delectable morsel of entertainment for many witches between the ages of 14-40 who fell in love with Silviya Capper's book, Confessions of a 100-Year Old Teenager. The show is typically viewed as the face of Wi-Vi, as it was the first program to air from that technology, and the reason the technology has grown and expanded to what it is today. MY LIFE AT PIGFARTS | [Genre: Drama | Airs: Fridays @ 8pm on Wivi 4] A teen drama which airs in the summer months on Tuesday evenings. The story revolves around a small group of students attending the fictional school, Pigfarts, which is quite obviously a mock-up of the famous UK facility, Hogwarts. The show revolves around students in their 7th year and deals with typical issues like NEWT preparation, career preparation, and house rivalries, while also touching on controversial subjects such as personality and eating disorders, mental illness, hate crimes, and even death. Each week the host takes the audience through the steps of creating the potion of the day, often including educational tips and uncommon facts about the ingredients involved. The show explores the science and technique behind the potion brewing, the history of different potions, and the advantages of different kinds of prep equipment. EXCLUSIVE PREMIERES A Very Potter Musical | [Genre: Live Broadcast | Exclusive Spring 2004 on Wivi 4] The live broadcast of the popular touring show, A Very Potter Musical. The troupe toured internationally with their comedy show about the famous Trio. Because it was a parody any attempt to legally shut them down was trumped by their very expensive lawyer. AS THE CAULDRON BUBBLES For over 30 years this daily drama has been entertaining women of all ages. Particularly popular with housewives, As the Cauldron Bubbles is a soap opera about the fictional wizard neighborhood, Rhetoric Alley, located in metropolitan Manchester. Much like Muggle soaps, there is an emphasis on family life, personal relationships, sexual dramas, emotional and moral conflicts; some coverage of topical issues; and is set in familiar domestic interiors. Primary focus is on the characters within the two warring families- The Rutengers and The Pennyworths. | Actors: lavenderrose as March Vorban'ov | Actor: Theloneus Gamp (R. Davie's Father). MY MAD MUGGLE A sketch comedy show which airs on Saturday evenings. The skits of My Mad Muggle tend to focus primarily on the stereotypes and wizard perceptions of non-magical folk, with emphasis on social blunders and magical ignorance. HOW THE SPELL WAS CAST A daily radio program started during the 1940s, it consists of stories presented as factual on a variety of subjects with a surprise or "twist" saved until the end. The broadcasts always conclude with the tag line "And now you know… how the spell was cast." TOOTS, SHOOTS 'N ROOTS Hosted by Tilden Toots, this Herbology friendly show airs Tuesdays and Thursdays. Listeners owl in questions to the herbology expert, who offers friendly advice often with moral undertones. Occasionally he will interview Herbology experts, and allow them to answer a few letters as well. WHICH WITCH! In collaboration with Witch Wizard and Witch Weekly, listeners are given the opportunity to owl in answers to trivia questions posted in those respective magazines in the hopes of being chosen to appear on the game show. Trivia topics range from everyday spells and potions, to knowledge on wizarding history and obscure ingredients. Contestants are given the opportunity to win galleons with correct answers, and risk being struck with mostly harmless hexes if they answer incorrectly. THE WITCHING HOUR A daily music program which plays the latest hits of the day. Weekend shows are a tribute to the classics. Hosted by Glenda Chittock, the show is reminiscent of Casey Kasem's Top 40 Countdown, in that Sunday's three hour show counts down the latest hits of the week. WWN NEWS A daily news program which gives the latest updates on events of Wizarding Britain. The show has strong ties to the Ministry of Magic, which has been known to actively influence what is broadcast. It comes on three times a day with a half hour morning show, a fifteen minute afternoon report, and an hour long evening broadcast. Written Fiction & Print Media | THE ADVENTURES OF MARTIN MIGGS, THE MAD MUGGLE Martin Miggs originally started as a recurring character on the WWN sketch comedy show, My Mad Muggle. Popularity over him grew so much that one of the writers for the show collaborated with an artist friend in order to start the popular comic book series. Additionally, Martin Miggs has appeared on a number of merchandise, and also has his own doll. His look is similar to the actor who originally portrayed him on the WWN, who also provided his voice for the quotes that the doll sometimes says. THE HARRY POTTER STORY A seven book biography series of The Boy Who Lived, as written by JK Rowling. Only five books have been released so far, with the fifth recently published in April of 2005. Subsequently, this is the only biography to have been authorized by Harry Potter for publication, and as with her previous biographies, JK Rowling has proven very good at laying out the facts in her novels without subjecting personal opinion to details. THE REBECCA RYAN NOVELS (Secretly written by noll) A mystery book series revolving around Rebecca Ryan, a former hitwitch who now works as a third party for the Ministry, working to solve crimes that the Aurors can't. Despite a tendency for over-the-top villains, the books are well liked- particularly by women- due in no small part to the steamy sex scenes between Rebecca and the many men who love her, as well as her very likable partner, Dimitri. Written by Patricia Oliver, their are currently 8 published books in print, with plans for the 9th to come out sometime fall 2005. THE CONFESSIONS OF A 100 YEAR OLD TEENAGER (Written by sylvie) The story of Sebastian Colson, an Irish vampire who was turned in 1921 when he was found nearly-dead by a Captain of the Coast Guard floating in the icy waters of the Atlantic after the Titanic disaster. His Maker has since died and he rarely speaks of him. In 1933 he found a young man, Lester ("Les") Farmer, who'd been left for dead when his family migrated during the Great Depression. Being lonely, Sebastian turned him. They've traveled together ever since, consider each other their family in this world. Published in 2000. FULL CONFESSIONS (Written by sylvie) The second novel picks up two years later. These are Britt's journals, in which she believes Les is dead and has eventually moved on with Sebastian. Les, though, was saved by another witch - Georgia Athens - who witnessed the whole thing, and has a bone to pick with Sebastian from many decades ago. After Les' recovery, the two return to London to take their revenge. Britt is thrown - this Les isn't the vampire she loved, he's cold and hateful, and she's come to care for Sebastian greatly. Who will win her heart? Will she learn the truth of Sebastian's betrayal? Can she forgive his secrets? Will she save Les from Georgia's influence and from himself? Published 2001. THE BURLINGTON BLUDGER CLUB (Written by thedeano) The Burlington Bludger Club a comic book about a typical underdog-team story of a fictional local amateur Quidditch team made up of young adults (17-19) trying to make their way in the world and hold onto their dreams. Main characters Billywig Jenkins (captain and chaser) and Jezebel Jericho (vice captain and beater). Of course they have UST. People think JJ is based off Ginny because she's a feisty redhead. Characters: Jasmine Pennyfeather (seeker) Welsh! black, Charity Grant (chaser) Scottish (sort of based on Luna, though it doesn't get the attention JJ/Ginny does). Teague O'Flaherty (beater). Peter Park, (chaser), Karishma Desai, mugglebor Scottish (keeper). Parker Perkins (eternally hopeful reserve). CHALLENGES IN CHARMING An academic periodical that is published quarterly. Challenges in Charming is known for it's informative articles and interviews with the Wizarding World's leading Charms experts, and often includes essays about the latest developments in the field of Charm work. THE DAILY PROPHET (Editor in Chief: Alexander Higgs stethed) The primary source of news for British wizards. It features a morning and evening edition, the latter of which is called the Evening Prophet. The weekend edition is called the Sunday Prophet. Additional news bulletins can be delivered quickly when important, news-worthy events occur. An edition may change as news changes during the day via magic- believed to be done by a Protean Charm. The paper has strong ties to the Ministry of Magic, which has been known to actively influence what is printed. MODERN DAY MAGIC Owned by WICoN, this monthly technology magazine provides wizards with the latest information on magical technology. Modern Day Magic reports on how such technology affects culture, the economy, and politics. It also offers reviews and discounts on the latest products released by WICoN. THE PRACTICAL POTIONEER An academic periodical that is published quarterly. The Practical Potioneer is known for it's informative articles and interviews with the Wizarding World's leading Potions experts, and often includes essays about the latest developments in the field of Potion work. THE QUIBBLER Despite being known as a tabloid, The Quibbler received some acclaim during the Second Wizarding War, due to its penchant for producing completely unbiased and truthful articles about the events of the time. Since the War's end, however, it has returned to its roots, focused on producing articles that cover outrageous ideas and conspiracy theories. SEEKER WEEKLY A weekly international sports magazine, with a primary focus on the goings on in Quidditch. It features in-depth game reporting, regular illustration features, a school star player of the month spread- which often helps future players to be scouted and noticed from different schools across the globe. Includes collectible player cards in the center, and often features scantily clad women in their advertisements. SPELLA WEEKLY Most notable for it's Best Dressed Wizard award, Spella Weekly is a celebrity gossip magazine which covers topics ranging from celebrity relationships to the latest trends in fashion, beauty, and entertainment. Some of the more popular sections are Like We Do (photos of celebrities doing things everyday people do), Lip Service (quotes from celebrities), and Appearance Auror (comedians cite the fashion disasters of the stars, and the best look of the week). TEEN WITCH Teen Witch includes information and advice about fashion trends, celebrities, beauty, skincare, hair and makeup, dating and lifestyles. It embraces many topics including body image and career advice. It also has a health section about nutrition and exercise, and quizzes and horoscopes. Articles are kept deliberately brief and are geared toward witches aged 12 to 19. TRANSFIGURATION TODAY An academic periodical that is published quarterly. Transfiguration Today is known for it's informative articles and interviews with the Wizarding World's leading Transfiguration experts, and often includes essays about the latest developments in the field of Transfiguration work. WARLOCK AT WAR An anti-Muggle periodical that was in print from the 1300s until 1998. It promoted activism against Muggles, Muggleborns, and Mugglelovers, and was extremely popular with Pureblood extremists. The publication was shut down by the Ministry of Magic after the Second Wizarding War in the hopes that by silencing such negative attitudes would discourage any copycats of The Dark Lord from causing dissent in the community. WHICH BROOMSTICK? As the title suggests, it is a magazine about broomsticks. Which Broomstick? is intended primarily as a magazine for consumers rather than dedicated Quidditch enthusiasts. It contains an extensive buyers' guide section to help consumers to buy the right broom and provides tips on how to get discounts on brooms and other Quidditch accessories. WITCH WEEKLY A magazine which focuses on the home, family and lives of adult witches, providing them with health advice and hints on how to feel good at any age. Featuring beauty and fashion advice which is age-relevant, it aims to give the modern witch the confidence to experiment by adapting the latest trends to suit them. Witch Weekly aims to inspire readers to be creative with cookery, home, gardening and craft ideas. Each week also features a fiction story and generally upbeat real-life stories about the average witch in Britain. WITCH WIZARD A popular men's magazine primarily a magazine devoted to fashion and lifestyle. However, Witch Wizard also features reports on relevant social and political issues, and appeals to the average wizard through articles on food, entertainment, fitness, sex, music, travel, sports, magitech, and books. |
