[thread] - tommy jacobsen & sascha becker
Characters: [info]thomasj & [info]sbecker
Setting: After Broadway On Broadway
Summary: A couple of bros hanging out being bros.
Rating: TBD

The show had been tremendous as per usual, but Tommy tended to think the best of everything Broadway, no matter how poor the performance might have been - or how prosaic or plebian or any number of p-words that indicated that something wasn't exactly high theatrical art. That wasn't to say that the boy didn't have standards because he certainly did have a whole long list of shows that he wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole, no matter how good the salary offer or co-stars were, but he always managed to find something good about even those pieces. A treatise on theatre, however, was not on his mind at the moment because Broadway on Broadway wasn't really about who was better than whom. It was a celebration of the great things that Broadway had to offer, and he was a firm supporter of Broadway theatre in all its forms.

Not currently appearing on Broadway himself, though, he wasn't involved in the actual performances on stage, but he'd played an equally important part that morning by playing in the band. He liked to help out in any way he could, and if he could have his moment on stage, he wanted to help other people bring their moments to life with the right music. Once the show was over, though, he slapped five with the other musicians, made sure to congratulate Liam Gregory on a job well done, and then packed up his bass guitar to head for home so that he could get ready for his 3:00 matinee.

Slinging the instrument over his shoulder like a backpack, he started to weave his way through the dispersing crowd, until he bumped into someone. Fumbling to make sure his guitar didn't fall off, he nearly tripped and fell. Once he'd straightened himself out, he turned to apologize to the person he'd nearly run down, until he realized that it just so happened to be a very good friend of his. "Well, since it's you, I'm not apologizing," he said to Sascha, smirking for a moment before letting out a playful laugh.

Whenever Sascha wasn't on stage, he came out to support everyone else who was on stage because -- as cheesy as it may have sounded -- that was how the theatre community worked, and the only way it could survive. Broadway on Broadway was perfect for that, and they could not have had a more glorious day to hop around on stage, singing at the top of their lungs before people had to rush off to do the shows for real.

Sascha had just finished directing a family from... not the city to the Gershwin, as they hoped to catch tickets to Wicked's matinee. Not that he blamed them, he could definitely see that show over and over again. Just as he was starting to settle into the glow of a job well done, he was nearly run down, and he straightened to find that it was just Tommy. "Oh it's you. Here I thought it was some lunatic," he said, pushing his hair out of his eyes. "In the pit again? I must've missed the sign up sheet."

"Clearly you aren't as cool as me," Tommy replied teasingly, shouldering the bass once more. In point of fact, and as evidenced by his large fanbase, Sascha was much cooler than Tommy could ever hope to be - he was an obnoxious nerd through and through, but that worked for him rather well. People tended to like him for who he was, and for those that didn't? Well, Tommy generally didn't pay them any mind.

Glancing around a little, as the crowds began to thin out, the curly-haired brunet decided that this crowd was much bigger than last year's had been. He'd been lucky enough to be able to perform last year with the 'Spring Awakening' cast as Melchior - the last of them actually - and it had been something really special. But this year's crowd had been really intense, and while he might have wished he could have been up there to bask in it, he knew he was still an important and helpful part of the experience for the audience. It wasn't really about the fame for him, though, but more about the ability to bring joy to the people out there watching it. "This was pretty awesome, wasn't it?" he then added, echoing his thoughts aloud. "Huge crowd. Did you stir up a bunch of interest for your show, man?"

"No, it's true. You are the cooler being, Tommy," Sascha deadpanned, fiddling with the zipper on his hoodie. Even a couple of years after the fact, 'fanbase' was a somewhat foreign concept to Sascha, but whenever he forget there was usually at least one hyperactive, zealous, but somehow adorable fan there to remind him just how crazy things had become.

"I have been stirring up interest for everyone's shows," he replied, showing off the leaflets for Broadway shows that he may or may not have pilfered from the TKTS booth, downtown hotels, and basically any place he could find them. (Except, he definitely did.) "I suppose you could call me somewhat of a traffic cop. In a very unofficial capacity, of course," he added. "Man, my next show isn't even going to be until January. I'll go ahead and say it, I'm bored."

Tommy stuck his tongue out as his friend, but laughed then. He did tend towards being the butt of each of his friends' jokes, but again, he didn't mind it. They all kicked the proverbial shit out of each other whenver they got the chance to. It was all in good fun, of course. Tommy couldn't even remember a time when he'd genuinely gotten angry with one of them.

Grinning, he reached forward and made to ruffle Sascha's slightly scruffy head. "What a good little pusher you are! And we need to rustle up some gigs or something so you don't waste away from boredom." Tommy laughed again. "Or we can even just christen the new digs with our rocktageousness. It's about time that Wyatt got to hear what we're all about - right next door to him."

"Hey, stop that," he said, batting away Tommy's hand and smoothing the hair back down into the neatly ordered chaos it had been when he rolled out of bed that morning.

"No, I agree," he finally replied to Tommy. "Well, I have a couple of nights at Joe' Pub booked. Those are slowly taking shape. And you at least should definitely guest star." He'd been meaning to ask, but that sort of request worked much better in person than over text message or Facebook or something like that. Because then he could plead.

"I can't help it, brosephus. It's just so shiny and bed-heady," he replied, reaching out his hand as if possessed. He stopped just short of actually touching Sascha's head, though, because he didn't want to have his hand bitten off or something like that.

Raising his eyebrows appraisingly, Tommy considered it. It definitely sounded pretty promising. The band had had a few gigs here and there, and of course, there was the epic birthday party for Caroline Milton, but Joe's Pub? Joe's had prestige ... notoriety ... an audience of people who wanted to hear real music, as opposed to a rowdy group of children who just wanted to dance around to heavy guitar KidzBop-like covers of classic rock songs. "Are you sure, man? I mean, I don't want to steal your thunder or anything ... if that's even possible, I mean, heh heh."

Sascha shrugged at that and then grinned. "Your thunder is my thunder," he said happily, flailing his arms. "I think it's supposed to start before you're both out of your shows, but it's not like it's far to go or anything. I'll just do the first half and you guys can show up like knights in shining armor, TGOers old enough to be without a bedtime go wild, and everyone goes home happy!" He sold it with a big smile.

It was hard to say no with all that enthusiasm, and really, Tommy wasn't ever the kind to say no to a gig. He loved playing music, especially with the boys, and the rush that came over him was too good to pass up. "All right, but only because you're practically forcing me into this, man," he said, with a grin of his own.

He then glanced around again, before looking down at his watch. He still had plenty of time before the matinee, even if he went back home to shower and change. "Hey man, you want to grab a bite or something? I'm frickin starving, and I've got a ton of time before I have to go dance and whatnot. You in?" he asked.

"Excellent!" he cheered, and clapped his hands together as he barely resisted the urge to cackle evilly. "In that case, we will do it. And I could definitely eat, a granola bar as I run out the door just does not do it anymore," he said.

Tommy shook his head, clearly appalled by his friend's eating habits. "Well, no wonder you've got that skinny rocker dude thing going on, and I'm halfway towards a middle-aged paunch," he said, patting his stomach. He was clearly exaggerating, but Tommy knew he wasn't really as fit as he could be, considering how much dancing and moving around he did on a regular basis.

"I have high metabolism," Sascha excused. "It'll probably catch up with me and my German genes somewhere in my mid-forties and then you can laugh at me," he promised. "In the meantime though I could eat the ass off a dead rhinoceros."

Tommy cracked up at that - it sounded completely appetizing ... or not at all. Luckily, he knew how to take care of himself, as a growing boy, and there was plenty of food to be found at his fancy new Wyatt-shared apartment. Of course, there were also any number of places they could go in the general region of Times Square. And as much as Tommy was an adventurous sort of person, sometimes even he succumbed to the glory of Sbarro for a slice of pizza. "I'm not sure I'm up for rhino ass, but how about a burger or some pizza or something?"

Sascha laughed in return. "I'm not sure you can get rhino ass north of fourteenth street anyway, that's probably just as well. Let's find something," he agreed.

"Sweet deal," he replied, before slinging an arm around Sascha's shoulder and starting to lead him in a direction that promised there would be sweet, delicious foodly goodness. Tommy wasn't really sure what he was in the mood for really, but he'd be happy with just about anything ... except sushi. He didn't know what it was, but even the thought of sushi made him gag. His baby sister was a fiend for the stuff, and every time she visited him in the city, she dragged him to find a good sushi place with her. He resented it every single time, but he loved his little sis, so he went.

Once they reached a stretch of restaurants, Tommy paused. "To be honest, man, I could even just go for some Mickey D's..."

"Oh god, don't even talk to me about McDonald's," Sascha said. "That shit is not healthy for you at all but I cannot live without those freaking french fries. They are like crack coated salty goodness, I don't care what they fry them in." Damn, now he wanted french fries. "... There's like six in a four block radius, man, pick your direction."

"They fry them in pure unadulterated grease, my friend, and that is what makes them so delicious. Fuck nutrition, man," Tommy replied, with a grin. There was most definitely a double cheeseburger, some greasy salty fries, and a vanilla shake waiting with his name on it. Tomorrow, he would start going to the gym again. Today? Fast delicious food. "Come on, that one's the best," he added, indicating the one on the corner of the next block down.

"If you say so. Oh, my body so hates me for this already," he said, walking along, and hesitating only momentarily in order to avoid the taxi barreling down the street. Moe yoga tomorrow morning... afternoon. tomorrow afternoon. That would offset it. "Moving along, though. Was Nate in the pit too? I didn't catch a look." Not that it would have surprised him at all.

"Yeah, he was in there with me. We are the backbone of the theatre community," he said, in a faux self-important sort of way. He puffed out his chest in a show of manliness, which completely disappeared seconds later, as he nearly knocked over a tall man who was on his cell phone, completely oblivious to the outside world. "Jeez, I love New York," he added, chuckling to himself as a ran a hand through his hair.

"It's an amazing city. No other like it," Sascha answered happily. "So far as I know, anyway. I'm sure there are natives of other certain cities that would like to argue that with me, but that's fine. I'll win," he said easily, walking on, nimbly avoiding the people going in the opposite direction.
