There didn't seem to be much down there. The ragged walls of the pit dripped with condensation, pooling in sparse puddles at the bottom where the tunnel seemed to veer off out of sight. Tony knelt down at the edge, leaning forward on his hands to squint down into the darkness and try to pick out any clue as to what they were looking at, because it didn't seem interesting enough to put man-eating guards on, only to suddenly rear back with a yelp and hand clasped over his nose. Ripples shimmered across the mouth of the pit from where Tony made the mistake of leaning in close enough to touch it, but Tony wasn't watching; his eyes were crossed to try to get a sense of the damage, only to start to wave his hands ineffectually with a groan of horror. "It splinched my nose! It just took it!" he cried, then clapped both hands over his face again to hide the damage because he was a monster now who could never go back to school. Even though he couldn't have possibly gotten so close as to lose much more than the tip.
