It's been awhile since I've done one of these. So, anyway, hey everybody. Before I dive in, look at this.

Okay, are you ready? Good. Let's begin. )

PSA

[info]ohmarvelousmod
This is a Public Service Announcement.

If you have multiple characters, and haven't already, I strongly suggest making use of the friend button with all of your journals, or at least the journal you use most often to check your friend's list. If you're not updated you might miss important things like missions from the [info]oh_marvelousnpc journal that pop up on your friend's list. I noticed this just now when I realized that only one of my journals was actually up-to-date and it wasn't one I ever actually use to check my f-list. I took a quick look at the npc journal's mutual friends and there are several journals that haven't friended it so I thought I'd point this out in case anyone else was as lazy as me and never updated their friends. I don't want any of you to miss out on anything! <3

PSA: Tagging entries and Communication

[info]ohmarvelousmod
Okay! I'm going to get pet-peevey here, my ducklings, but not because I don't love you all fiercely. So, when you join a thread, please edit the tags on the entry and add yourselves. I don't want to have to do it and that's also how I check for activity so if you're not tagging your character in, I may not know.

Also on the subject of tags. I like to keep a clean !incomplete page. So basically, if I see a post that's old and someone hasn't done a tag to it in at least two weeks, I will be tagging it !closed. This does not mean you can't go back and finish it or wrap it up, etc. It just means it gets off the !incomplete page and I get some relative (though false, oh you mirage !closed tag) sense of relief. If you do go back and finish a !closed thread, don't forget to change it from !closed to !complete. !complete threads are the happiest threads of all.

Finally, communication. Talk to each other. Chat, plot, build up CR. We have the plot posts all the time and we have a chat room and you all have access to one another's screen names and email addresses and there is always the lovely pm system. There is no shortage of ways to communicate with one another (and me!) so do eet. You can't sit back and wait for someone to hand you plot, and it's always frustrating when someone asks for feedback and gets none. So don't be shy! Get to plotting and talking and most importantly- have fun.

That is all. I now return you to your regularly scheduled Monday night.

PSA: Real Time

[info]ohmarvelousmod
Does everybody know what time it is? It's Public Service Announcement time! Today's lesson: Real Time. Okay, so, it's come to my attention that some people don't get that the game is set in real time. This means that if you do a post on a certain day, even if you don't actually finish it that day, it still all took place on that one day. That said, other posts on later days wouldn't be happening on the same day as the first one unless you specifically say that it's backdated to that date (which I don't exactly encourage, that's what placeholders are for).

Also, for those who don't know, you can put up a placeholder for a post that you want set on a particular day but you're waiting to see how something else you're playing pans out or you just don't have time to put it up that day but it needs to happen at that time.

You can be in more than one thread at a time. Say on monday you were in Paris, well if it's thursday and you're still threading that Paris scene, there's no reason you can't do a new scene on thursday set in New York because as far as time goes your character is probably not still in Paris.

Now you're probably wondering, "But what if something really HUGE happens in my post? Won't that affect my later posts?" Well, presumably, if something huge is going to happen in your post you've likely got it planned ahead of time and if it's really that important to you, you can throw a mention about it in a tag in a more recent post you're doing. Generally huge life shattering events are planned.

If it's something like say, you were injured, well that is the magic of a comic book game- there are probably healers and amazing medical tech everywhere, so just mention how so and so or whatever healed you and you're good to go. So don't restrict yourself to only being in one thread at a time (unless that's just really how you roll) if you want to be in more than one thread.

Thus concludes this PSA. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Candy?

PSA: Tagging order

[info]ohmarvelousmod
Another ooc mod post? Oh dear! Anyway, no, again, nothing bad here. Today is lesson time! I realize we've got several newer players who've never been in journal games before so I figure a quick overview of tagging etiquette- or more specifically tagging order- couldn't hurt. So basically, if you're in a thread with more than one player, as a courtesy to everyone you should adhere to a tagging order. For example, Jerry makes a post, Sally Jesse replies, then Geraldo. Logically, the next post goes to Jerry again, then Sally Jesse and finally Geraldo and so on and so forth. Sometimes a player will offer you their tag because they have nothing to input at that moment but unless otherwise stated, please stick to a tagging order while playing. It's polite and it allows for cleaner posts and less confusion (i.e. more than one person replying to a single tag, etc). Okay well, that's it for this lesson. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Daytime talk show theme music?

A Public Service Announcement

[info]ohmarvelousmod
Okay all, so this is a general thing, it's not meant to be about anything specific so don't freak out on me. Basically I just want to say that if anyone is having any problems, big or small, with anything- other players, plots, the game in general- please let me know. I am here to take care of issues, but I can't do that if I don't know about them. You can email me, pm me, AIM me, drop box. Whatever, just don't keep quiet on things bothering you. I'm the mod, that's what I'm here for, guys and gals. Pretty much this is me being paranoid because I'm not getting any complaints. This is no utopia, people.

On that same note, perhaps it is time for an HMD reminder? We're going to do this the old way and the new way. If you'd rather have your critiques public then post here saying so. If you want your crits private, post with a link to your HMD posts. For you new players HMD stands for "How's My Driving" and it's an opportunity to have your playing and your characters critiqued by other players. If you want them done privately, then put up posts in your character journal with screened comments. No one is required to do this, it's just a good way to get feedback if you want it.

And yeah, I wouldn't mind some crits too, of my modding, Wanda, Fury, Magnus, Cassie, and Happy.
