"It is vain to say human beings ought to be satisfied with tranquility."

Open to reactions with the assumption that this news report is shown everywhere.
"A riot broke out in Central Park today during a small rally protesting the mandatory Mutant Registration Act. These rallies have become more common in recent weeks since the last public address by Magnus Lehnsherr. Just under one hundred people were in attendance and it is suspected that most of them were mutants. Many of the protesters seemed to be mutant supremacists, carrying signs touting mutant superiority. Speakers at the demonstration included prominent Mutant activists and, surprisingly, the Avenger Pietro Lehnsherr, son of Magneto. It seems that Lehnsherr was in attendance at the rally and when he was recognized he was pulled up to the stage to speak.
["Video" of Pietro's speech:
/Camera zooms to excited man on stage, pointing out into the crowd./
"It is! That's Quicksilver! Magneto's son! Bring him up here!"
/camera moves back to show two men ushering Pietro towards the stage. First man rushes over to shake his hands, murmurs a few words, then hands over the microphone./
/Pietro shakes his head, looking avoidant, but the man is persistent/
"Um-I'm not really-I wasn't planning on speaking, I just wanted to show some support for those of you who are against the Registration Act becoming mandatory."
/He looks to the man who waves for him to continue/
"...I grew up on Genosha...so I guess I have a different perspective of life then a lot of you, but I think no matter where you're from, we can all agree this go against our most basic civil rights. If any other group were asked to answer for the actions of a few there would be uproar in the streets. And so I'm glad that there are people like you...mutants and humans, who can see that this is wrong, and I hope that you'll make sure that the people in power hear what you have to say."
/Man yells out/ "Yeah! If they won't listen, we've got to make them listen!" /crowd cheers/
/Pietro looks alarmed/ "No that's not what I meant-"
/Man raises his fist/ "It's like Magneto said! We have to destroy the human problem!" /more cheers and several humans in the crowd begin to slink away/
/A woman from another crowd watching the protest yells out/ "You're {censored} insane and so is that nutjob Magneto! His ideas are backwards and you're all ignorant! He should be captured and {censored} executed for his crimes against humanity!"
/Pietro glares towards woman/ "My father's methods might be extreme, but his ideals have always been to promote the safety and well being of mutant kind. This is a serious issue, and perhaps you're so angry because you're too ignorant to look outside of your own welfare. Americans have a long history of fighting and dying for their civil liberties and you would ask us not to do so now?"
/another angry voice/ "You don't deserve them, mutated scum! You deserve just what your father does!"
/another voice/ "Terrorist!"
/Man grabs the microphone from Pietro and roars/ "DEFEND YOUR HONOR! QUELL THE VOICE OF OPPRESSION!" /fighting breaks out between the two crowds/]
As per protocol for public demonstrations, police were already on the scene. Following Lehnsherr's address, the rally became violent as belligerent participants attacking non-mutant passerby and police officers. The riot was quickly suppressed and as of now there are fifty-six confirmed arrests. Sources say that Pietro Lehnsherr was not among those detained by the police."
What a delightful surprise. Magnus chuckled to himself as he watched the footage again, heard his son's avowal of his beliefs. It was a pleasing turn of events. Magnus must admit it was almost touching. That despite all of the punishment Magnus inflicted upon his son, Pietro remained loyal. The show of solidarity was enough to make Magnus feel rather paternal. Certainly, it changed his plans. Perhaps, it would save Pietro's life. "Tomorrow," he murmured to himself and sat back in his chair. It would be perfectly expedient. His plan would come to fruition tomorrow.
