Jubilee was catching up on homework in her newly-reconstructed room when her RSS feed showed a news update. She saw the word "riot" and clicked.
The video was damning for that Pietro Lensherr guy. She felt bad for him, in fact, because it seemed he was forced into a corner and had no options. Everything he said was wrong--first to the humans, then to the mutants.
Would it always be like this? Would the mutants always be wrong to everyone, even their own kind at times?
Would registration become law, defiance punishable by imprisonment?
She hoped not. Jubilee was not a great student, but she remembered her lessons on the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s. And before that, McCarthyism. World War II--Germany. Slavery.
Registration was the first step down a long, slippery slope.
Disturbed, she slipped out of her room and headed down to the main lounge. The big TV was nearly always showing the news--she hoped there was someone comforting watching down there right now.
