"The removal of memories, real or not Logan, is a very delicate and difficult thing," Charles replied. "Memories are often tied to other memories, like strings that get knotted together. Remove one and you could inadvertantly remove another related one that you'd prefer to keep. I'm glad you were able to find someone who could more definatively mark which memories of yours are real and which are false... but I am even more glad to know he did not attempt to remove them."
Xavier brought Logan to his makeshift office and gestured to the salvaged brown leather couch, "Go ahead and lie down. You will need to lead me through these memories and show me which are false and which are true. We will take them one at a time and slowly. I will have to pull away the strings that each are tied to so nothing that should remain is removed. And no, we will not be going through and removing all of them at this time. This will still take a while and will take a toll on both of us physically. You may be able to keep that up, but my mutation is not so forgiving should I neglect my body's health."
The last was said with humor, but it was true all the same. He couldn't just take out and put in a memory. Not with someone whose past was so convoluted. Wipe it all away and lock the memories where he couldn't get to them, giving a clean slate? Yes. Charles could do that far more easily and in a matter of minutes. But not something this delicate, not with a mind as jumbled as Logan's.
