Sometimes everyone needs sanctuary.
Characters: Marvel Girl and Speed
Setting: Xavier HQ
Content: Mischief
Summary: Tommy is free, but what now? He runs off to find his woman.
It had taken several days for Tommy’s powers to kick back in enough to run again. When Magneto had released Tommy from his prison he’d been forced to crawl away and recover before making another move. In that elapsed time Shepherd’s metabolism and super-fast healing had recovered some from the near death state he’d placed under while imprisoned by shield. It was time to decide where to go next with this accursed freedom Magneto had given him. Tommy had no friends left. All his allies had turned their backs on him. Everyone had assumed the worst of the speedster. And could he really blame them? What was Tommy? An arrogant little prick. A juvenile delinquent. A failed young avenger. He was nothing now. Forced to run away from his problems the weight of which bore down on his spirit.
Now he was being hunted by shield and watched by the brotherhood. Who would he turn to for help in clearing his name? The only two people Thomas could immediately think of were his brother, and his girlfriend. He knew he could burden his brother, Billy with his problems. Billy had Teddy to think of, and he just couldn’t ask both of them to make this sacrifice. Billy would be hurt but it was necessary. It would be a nightmare if Fury blamed the whole team for Tommy’s mistakes. Cassie, Teddy, and Billy deserved better. Still he did leave a note for them explaining his actions. Maybe they would believe him? One thing was for sure though, he would have to look else ware for help. Which brought to mind Jean? Should he burden her as well with his problems? He couldn’t imagine bringing Shield to her doorstep, but what other choice did he have?
With a heavy heart he decided it was the only option he could afford right now. He turned towards the Xavier mansion and ran with all the speed he could muster at his current state. It took him a few minutes but he arrived on the scene. He immediately ran past the carnage left over from the Marauder’s attack and made his way to Jean’s room. He banged three times on her door then fell to his knees in exhaustion. He still wasn’t at his full hundred percent and all this running was killing him.
