Jean reached out and lightly stroked his cheeks, fingers moving to his lips where they traced the red form there before she bent down and placed a light kiss upon them. Her nose brushed his own, warm breath fell upon her skin, making her shiver as she pulled away slowly. Of course he would worry about her...but she didn't need someone to protect her. Ever. Before him she had fought for herself and the other X-Men, this was no different. While it was touching he cared, she was slightly angered in him thinking she couldn't handle it herself.
"You didn't fail me Speed. You don't need to protect me. I'll be okay", she stroked the silver strands back from his face, a weak smile on her face. "We protect each other."
