"Change of plans, cutie," she whispered into her earpiece. "The biddings are starting sooner than anticipated, we're going to have to do this the old-fashioned way." Colleen veered in the opposite direction of the high security guiding the set up team, there was no way she could retrieve the item now without facing them head on. "Meet me on the auction floor, near the bathrooms." Colleen took the elevator up, refining the new course of action in her mind. She had some experience infiltrating underground auctions, but of all of them this was the grandest. She'd never seen so much wealth stuffed into one room. The SHIELD assignment had been simple enough; get the valuable before the auction commenced, before it landed in the hands of a nefarious buyer. Slip in and out, no one would even notice. But plans so simple seldom ever stayed that way, and now the affluent Mr. and Mrs. McDermott were going to have to partake in the bidding wars. And win.
Colleen stepped onto the 18th floor and followed the strip of white Italian marble down to the left end of the hall. She went into the bathroom first, passing some time, parroting a group of diamond-studded ladies fixing themselves up in front of the mirror, before she stepped back out into the hall and smiled at the man waiting for her. She went up to him, glancing briefly at the group of women from the bathroom laughing and glittering by. "I'm glad SHIELD's footing the bill for all this," she chuckled, fixing his tie.
