After incapacitating the monster, a group of agents swooped in to kill and collect, leaving Colleen to take on a second, more aggressive one. It dodged and ducked, smacking her with one of its long, hairy legs. She sprung back to her feet and ran back up beside the scorpider, gaining air to leap and grab hold of one of its spikes, swinging herself up onto its back with a new course of action, since it was moving too frantically to get to its underbelly. The hard-shelled body rattled beneath her; Colleen glanced over her shoulder, keeping an alert watch on the tail, and crawled to the top of its head, piercing a soft spot between a set of eyes, into its cranium. The monster screeched and violently shook, on its way to crashing front-first into the pavement. Colleen yanked her blade out, turning back around to anticipate that wild stinger, only to be faced with another spider flying at her, legs stretched wide and fangs bared ferociously. Giant acid-spitting, jumping scorpion-spiders.
A grunt squeezed past her clenched teeth as the beast, the size of an SUV, pinned her to the ground, her blade thrust horizontally against its jarring pincers. Colleen squinted, writhing beneath the thing, trying to break out of its grasp before it spit. Too late, drips of acid fell onto her shoulders, a stifled cry in her throat as it burned through to her flesh. Calm as she could possibly be, Colleen focused her strength into dislodging her blade from the fangs and rolled away, crawling from under its legs, back onto her feet. Agitated, the arachnid swung its tail and hit her, full-body impact, tossing her into the air before she could evade it.
