Fury wasn't wholly convinced. He shook his head at her and muttered, "Dunno if you wanna go down this road, Drew. It won't change anything. You're better off not knowing." Nick drained the scotch and considered going to the bar for another, even though it was the middle of a work day and he was supposed to get back to the helicarrier and this was one of those two or three scotch kind of conversations. But at the end of it, she'd need another drink more than he would. "It does start with your parents," he said and crossed his arms. "I've seen their HYDRA files, and yours. You were-" he stopped. Fury's instinct was to lie, to soften the blow, and tell her that she'd been an accident. He wasn't sure if that was worse; that they would've experimented on her because they hadn't expected her, or the the truth. He opted for the truth. "You were planned. They were narcissists, the type of people who do the shit they did usually are. They wanted to see what their superior genes could make and what that creation- what you, could become."
