Nick watched her approach without expression and simply nodded his greeting. Red was on his list of people he wanted to make sure were squared away, so it was nice that she'd done the work for him. Betty's glibness earned her a wry sort of smile from Fury; he didn't think it was an act, her fearlessness (what did a Hulk really have to be afraid of anyhow). That was why he liked her, they were like-minded individuals. Other people were panicking and here they were, drinking to the end but ready for new beginnings. He raised his own half full glass of beer when she raised her scotch, and he tipped it in salute before he downed what was left. It wasn't until he'd gestured to the bartender for a fresh scotch and he'd gulped most of it before he finally spoke.
"Lotsa ways the world could end. My money wasn't on it going like this." As far as catastrophe went, Fury reasoned that it could've been worse. At least they got some time with this, to get people out. At least they'd all find each other again up there in space. "Coulda been worse," he mumbled to his glass.
