Well, the flinch was somewhat mollifying and he relaxed slightly but the mention of his pseudo-grandson had him tense again. Yes he knew Billy Kaplan but neither was he the spawn of Magnus' daughter nor, he suspected, the same Kaplan this stranger was looking for. Stranger. No, no he was sure he knew of him. Older, certainly, but hadn't William had a friend with shape shifting abilities? Magnus wasn't completely certain and when he tried to remember he felt a faint ache at the front if his skill that left him scowling again.
"I know William Kaplan." He said shortly, sounding perhaps harsher than he intended. "But my daughter-" his lip curled into a disgusted sneer at the word as though it wee something vile in his mouth. "Has no children. The Kaplan child I met also came from another universe but he was much younger than you. I do not know where he is nor would I care to find out." That Kaplan had dragged him into another universe then abandoned him once they returned was still a hard pill to swallow.
"The nearest human population is on Madagascar," he informed him and, despite his better judgment offered, "I can bring someone to teleport you there." Knowing for certain that the stranger was gone would give Magnus some peace of mind on the subject.
