Baby, I'm bad company.
Characters: Nick and Bobbi
Setting: Brussels
Content: Nick Fury
Summary: Two former S.H.I.E.L.D. bad asses tracking the same guy
Just because Fury wasn't the Director anymore didn't mean he didn't have S.H.I.E.L.D.'s best interests in mind. Somebody had to take care of the place and the world. Nick would never stop being that somebody. Besides, what else was he going to do with himself while he was on the run? It wasn't like he could go on a vacation, spend his days drinking mixed drink in a beach chair in some island paradise. That wasn't his style.
Fury stood in the doorway of an abandoned warehouse on Amazonestraat, his gun drawn. He waited, watching as dust motes abruptly stirred began a lazy ascent into his line of sight, visible in the rays of sunlight struggling through a grimy window. That was all the warning he needed- there was a bullet in the asshole's skull before he'd even rounded the corner, fired from a pistol with a silencer. Shooting motherfuckers. That was Nick Fury's style. He stepped over the body and continued around the corner and down a dim hallway.
This was were LaCroix should be, or so the intel he'd gathered told him. This fuckhead was responsible for quite a few of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s bad apples, people turned because this sonofabitch blackmailed them, kidnapped their families, drew them in with promises of gold and the good life. He was a French who'd defected to the KGB (how the fuck that went was beyond Fury but there was probably a time when those motherfuckers just took what they could get) and after that regime crumbled he became a criminal without a purpose which was, in Nick's opinion, the most dangerous kind.
In the last few decades LaCroix had dabbled into every criminal activity imaginable, from selling state secretes to the drug trade to human trafficking, but only in small time measures; he wasn't stupid and he'd never managed to get caught because he knew how to use bureaucracy to protect himself. He'd been a pain in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s ass for years but their hands had, legally speaking, been tied by layers and layers of red tape and foreign diplomacy and all the kind of shit that really got on Nick's nerves. Well, not anymore. Fury was a free agent now and he could finally pop LaCroix.
Tracking the man down had been difficult and the window that LaCroix would be here was small but the payoff would be worth it if Nick was successful. Getting rid of this dick was a service to the world and Nick was the world's daddy, taking care of scumbabgs was kind of a requirement. Kinda nice to have the freedom to get it done.
