Crazy was such a useless way to describe the summer. Apocalyptic was better! She'd lost her home, nearly lost her boyfriend (twice) and for a while she felt like she was losing her mind. So understandably she had been pre-occupied in the craziness of the months. She wasn't sure where Kitty was but when she finally found the voice of a small mutant student on the radio she realized the mansion must have been alright. So there was the hope she'd been struggling to hang on to. And when she found out Druid and Daisy were back it was just the icing on the cake. Everything was fine and everything could go back to normal, right? Well almost. The whole thing couldn't be erased completely, lives were loss and the damage had been done. Wicked would never forget it and it opened her eyes to many things. Avengers were flawed, Nick was flawed and she hadn't grown up as much as she thought. In the two years since she was brought into this world of costumed villains, special missions and basically chillin' with Avengers like it was the most normal thing in the world, she'd lost sight of what she wanted to do.
If this was the life she had chosen then she would start with mutant-kind. As much as she liked the company in New York she needed to go back to her roots in away. She felt useless, every one's hands were on deck but she knew she could be doing more. What about District X? What about the Mutants who had their district destroyed. It was a small gesture but she knew what it was like to live there for many of them. It was home, they could be themselves around other mutants and while yes they could re-locate to another place in New York it wouldn't be the same. For many mutants the green sign spray painted with the words 'District X' was like the statue of Liberty on Ellis Island.
But she needed to see Kitty and see if the school and everyone was okay. She hadn't seen her in ages and hadn't been able to get a hold of her since it all started. So she borrowed a hum-V and told Pietro her plans and didn't bother asking if he wanted to come. The Avengers probably had enough on their plate.
She pulled up to the Mansion next to the ominous looking truck where a red haired woman with a white streak cursing at herself and chiseling off what looked like skulls. Not wanting to know the story behind that she bypassed the woman and headed straight through the school's doors.
