Of course. Why wouldn’t someone come barging in right as she was about to leave. At least, she thought, it was Clint. On the list of people likely to try and stop her, he was fairly low. Lately they’d been getting on amazingly well. Maybe it was not having Pietro around while they made their nerve wracking cross country trek, maybe it was realizing she could lean on him when she’d needed someone and admitted to him that she was afraid. She’d never ever expected she’d make such an ally of Clint in such short order, but it was funny how things worked out in a crisis. Maybe when this was all over they’d go back to squabbling all the time again. Maybe not. Best to enjoy this while it lasted.
Their newfound truce aside, she wasn’t sure what exactly she could tell Clint. A lie would sound ridiculous, especially when he was already suspicious. Was she so transparent? Obviously. Maybe they all suspected, maybe they were just waiting for her to do something they thought was stupid. Well, she wasn’t going to disappoint them. Wanda squared her shoulders and crossed her arms, meeting Clint’s gaze all defiance.
“I’m going to get my brother,” she said, an edge in her voice, challenging him to argue. Wanda could get past him if she had to.
