There it was, the elephant int he room they'd been trying to tip toe around- fear and how they were supposed to handle this strange and terrible new world. The tone of her voice practically broke Happy's heart and he drew back to take her face gently in his hands and look down into her eyes.
"We survive, baby," he told her fiercely. For him, it was a promise; they would get through this, their little family, and there was still hope for a life afterwards. Happy had hope, he had faith that this would be over eventually, that life would go back to normal. He trusted in Tony and the capes to figure this out, find a cure, make things right. That's what heroes for were for, after all.
"We survive," he repeated and offered her a smile as he sat back and took her hands. "After all this we'll buy a house outside the city, just commute to work. Anthony'll have a yard to play in, we'll do the white picket fence, whole American Dream thing, yeah?" It was something to hold on to, to look forward to, and that was maybe just what they needed right now.
