It was safe to say that Jessica had been pretty useless as far as preparation went, though she did wrap a few of the gifts herself despite many of the stores' offers to do them for her. She'd even remembered to put names on them this time, not all interested in a repeat of last Christmas' guessing game. That was awful, she thought, chuckling to herself as she made her way down the hall.
She didn't understand why she was banned from the kitchen though--well, she did, but come on, surely she could be trusted as the tester, at least? Jessica wouldn't have mind that job all that much, and it would have saved her the time it took to strategize how to get in there to "admire" the dessert that teased her from afar without getting rejected from either Tony or Steve with a single look. She was forced to give up, after a while.
Smiling, she plucked a candy cane from the Christmas tree and unwrapped it as she began to amble about aimlessly, accepting that her job--for the time being--was to look pretty.
