Happy wanted to be brave and take that leap as easily as the woman had, but it seemed like an even farther drop than the last gap had been with a board over it. He stopped right at the ledge and sucked in a breath as he stared at the alley below for a few seconds. he couldn't stay here long, though, the woman might shoot him. Anyway, wasted time was just more time without Pepper and Anthony. Thinking of his wife, Happy backed up and made the jump.
The rest of their journey by rooftop didn't take long but being so high up afforded Happy the opportunity to view the city in a way he hadn't had a chance to do while running for his life on the ground. The streets below were decimated, pock-marked by explosions when the army firebombed the neighborhood. There was still a pretty high concentration of zombies here in Manhattan, even with all the military's efforts. He wondered if the rest of the city was faring as badly. Was it like this at Staten Island or near his Ma's place in Brooklyn? He didn't even know if she'd survived, he didn't know if anyone had.
The only thing keeping him hopeful about his wife and son's survival was Tony. Surely- surely- Tony would've though of them and tried to get to them and keep them safe. He was Iron Man, after all, he dealt with worse than this all the time. Sometimes the boss fucked up, sure, but Happy couldn't imagine he would fail in this. If nothing else, in a crisis, Happy had faith in Tony Stark.
His musings were cut short when the woman changed their path and ducked into the rooftop entry of a building. Wordlessly, Happy followed her down several flights of stairs and out into an empty alleyway opposite the truck she'd pointed at before.
