Flippancy was high on the list of reactions Wanda would have expected from Tony (and a much better alternative to others she might have imagined) so she simply smiled when he pulled her close again and cracked his jokes. She absently brushed her lips against his neck in a kiss as she mulled over what he’d likely posed as a strictly hypothetical question, a distraction or some kind of defense mechanism. Did she think Tony Stark really needed his ego inflated? Not particularly. Did she think he needed real encouragement and for someone to give a damn about him and what he was trying to accomplish?
“Yes, I do,” she answered with more feeling than he probably would have liked and stared at him intently as she rose from the bench and out of his arms. She reached out to stroke a thumb along his cheek while she searched his face for another few moments then broke into a smile and turned away. “Let’s see the rest of the aquarium,” she suggested lightly, matching the levity in his tone of voice. He’d been gracious enough to open up to her and now that she’d had her say, Wanda was willing to return the favor by pretending it hadn’t happened and not subjecting him to the torture of anymore truth or feeling. “Then you can buy me dinner. I did come all this way just for you.”
