Wanda was there within a few hours. On the phone she didn't ask why he wanted to see her, but simply where he wanted to meet. A word to her teammates and a change of clothes later and she began the tiring journey, teleporting from place to place with stops to rest and a few awkward explanations to people who happened to witness a stranger blink suddenly into existence in their midst. The whole endeavor still took less time than a cross-country flight and she was grateful for that.
Despite being exhausted by her mode of transportation, Wanda was happier than she would have expected after she teleported into New York. It was around seven-thirty when she stepped out of an alleyway. She stood on a dirty sidewalk in the chilly dusk air and listened to the cacophony of the city, shouts and conversations, blaring horns and strains of music, birds up in trees and the whir of a helicopter somewhere overhead. She sucked in a deep breath, breathing in the mixed scents of what seemed like every food imaginable and the overbearing perfume of a woman passing by and the pollution of the street. It was so different here from the quiet sterility of the Malibu beach house and the smoggy sprawling maze of Los Angeles. This crowded urban jungle was swollen with life and it felt more like home. She'd missed New York and she missed Tony. She'd lost the opportunity to see him when he'd come out west thanks to an infestation of giant mutant bats in Oakland. Playing at glorified exterminator with Clint had definitely not been worth missing out on Tony's visit and she hadn't had the chance to make it up to him since, until now.
The last leg of her trip was a short cab ride to the aquarium on Coney Island, which Wanda thought was both an interesting and strange place to meet up at. The parking lot was deserted and the pathway to the main building was only sparsely lit. She paused at the glass entry doors to examine a placard showing when the aquarium closed (hours before) and was starting to think that maybe she'd got the meeting place wrong. Peering through the glass she noted that it was brighter within than without and there were a few employees still milling about, which was promising. Then she spotted Tony, waiting in the lobby.
With a flash of light and a grunt of surprise from a security guard leaning against a wall, Wanda appeared a few feet behind Tony, grinning. Ignoring a question from the guard she moved to put a hand on Tony's arm and turn him towards her. "Hello," she greeted him, and then she kissed him.
