characters: Kitty, OTA!
setting: Noon - New York City
content: Nothing bad.
summary: Kitty goes for a walk that may or may not lead her to the grocery store.
The elevator door slid open and Kitty stepped out into the apartment lobby, passing a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes to an elderly man and his wife who'd been waiting. The pressures of the week seemed to have been more trying than usual, leaving her incredibly exhausted, so she was thankful to have been able to sleep in this Saturday and not pestered relentlessly by her alarm clock. Still, the weariness lingered in the steps it took to reach the mailbox and in the effort it took to search for her keys and fumble about until she had the right one to retrieve her mail.
Shuffling through the small stack - it was mostly junkmail - Kitty paused and came across a single white envelope with the Robert A. Heinlein School for Engineering and Astrophysics stamp printed at the left-hand corner. Her brow took form of an arch. "What do they want..." she grumbled, tearing it open. Unfolding the letter, she scanned the content only to scoff and shove it, along with the rest of her mail, into her bag. They put her on probation, dismissed her from the school, and now those mutant haters wanted her back to talk about it? Because that worked so well the first time, right?
Rolling her eyes, Kitty shoved her hands in her pockets and left the apartment complex. Now that she thought about it, she really needed to go grocery shopping.
