Kitty had been marveling at the design of the machine, soaking up every detail with her eyes from where she was standing. So when her teammate spoke up, she regarded him, her expression going from a neutral gaze, to a gaping stare in a matter of seconds.
"Cute," she scoffed with a light roll of her eyes. If Kitty had to make a guess, she'd go ahead and say that this guy would be their source of comic relief. That wasn't even necessarily a bad thing, she just wasn't too keen on the idea of getting on Nick's bad side the first day with silly questions like that.
Shaking her head, she looked back over at Nick, waving her hand with subtlety, then asked, "Do we have a time-frame to consider when exploring different places? That is, will the portal go idle, close up and disappear if we don't get back to it in time, leaving us stuck in whatever universe we're in for how ever long it takes to reactivate itself?"
