I'm overcoming gravity.
Characters: Stature, Wiccan, Hulkling
Setting: JFK International Airport, New York, afternoon
Content: Nothing bad
Summary: The former Young Avengers happen to be in the right place at the right time to prevent an airplane catastrophe
When most teenagers got together to "hang out," it usually entailed a trip to the mall or loitering in a restaurant where all they could afford was a soda and the waitresses shot them dirty looks for hours because they knew they wouldn't be getting much of a tip from that table. That was most kids, but Teddy Altman, Billy Kaplan, and Cassie Lang weren't like most kids their age. They weren't like most kids in this universe. So for the trio what "hanging out" actually entailed- after Agent Altman returned from Iceland, Billy recovered from a sore throat and could utilize his earth shattering abilities, and Cassie had free time from her part-time career as a Stark Industries employee- was helping sort through the wreckage of downed planes at JFK International Airport. Typical Sunday afternoon for your average teenaged super hero when all of New York City, when all the world, was going straight to hell in a hand basket.
This latest phenomenon, the plane crashes, started occurring the world over just this morning. Strange crafts were spotted in the air and the instruments in any aircraft they encountered went absolutely haywire. Some of them fell right from the sky, others managed to get to airfields- but not to land properly. Thus, the wreckage and horror and injuries and even a few deaths. No one could identify the strange crafts causing the problem because even advanced military jets failed when they came into contact with the ufos. There had been a global effort to ground planes, but apparently someone hadn't got the memo. That was the thought that crossed Cassie's mind as a whirring sounded overhead. When she looked up it was to see a passenger plane, a 747, flying dangerously low, circling, bucking as if the pilot didn't quite have control. The jumbo jet jerked upwards again and away from the airport. If it smashed into a city building, that would be bad but if it crash landed on a runway that wouldn't be much better. "Hey, guys," Cassie called to the boys and pointed towards the seemingly out of control plane.
