It wasn't difficult to leave Hawkeye in the dust as Tony sped away, intent to prove something though he really didn't know what anymore. Anyway, Hawkeye had to find a car to borrow, and Tony was on his motorcycle and breaking every traffic law available to get to the scene right on Nick's heels. One good thing about an alien invasion and mass hysteria: very little work had to go into avoiding law enforcement to get away with breaking laws that didn't really apply to the rescue team anyway. They had more important things to worry about than a few ignored stop lights. Like lunatics in the underground.
"Valet isn't available here, is it?" wasn't a very well received greeting after Tony skipped up to a stop on the sidewalk in front of the station entrance after tearing through the scattered emergency vehicles meant to keep anyone else from getting too close. His grin didn't falter, though, and he still winked at the nearest officer's disapproving frown. His confidence paid off as their protests died quickly when Tony gestured after the unmistakable Director Fury who strode purposefully down into the station without stopping to charm anyone at all. Leaving his helmet on his motorcycle seat and the surface crew with an encouraging thumbs up, Tony hastened after Nick, going, "Hey!" and "Barton's slow, did you see what he did to my shirt?"
