Mister Summers Goes to Washington Characters: Cable, some rogue AIM operatives, and OTA Setting: Washington, D.C. Content: Some violence and destruction so far. Some swearing. Summary: Cable heads to the capitol of the USA, in order to check on some contacts he had in his universe, and make a few new ones. Life of course, presents him with difficulties
Cable was feeling rather smug as he rounded a corner, enjoying the breeze and weather there in Washington, D.C., as the day went on. It was going on better than he had expected, really. As he had known would be the case, none of his contacts knew him here. Establishing himself in the new world was not that hard, however, after talking to Domino, using the Internet as he could, and utilizing a little cash flow, he had what he needed to impress and intimidate small time thugs.
He had gun permits for most places now, and carrying permits for several other weapons, not to mention a bounty hunter's license an certification as an ex-cop, honorably discharged. That would keep some of the heat off. With the punk's aid, even though he had not needed it, he now had a lead on a job that would be a good start in the area. Somebody had stolen a special computer, and it was feared it would be used to hack a government database. The current reward for it's apprehension and that of the thieves was rather high, and Cable chuckled. Establishing himself would work out just fine.
He was approaching the address he'd gotten, where the thieves, supposedly two accountants, were holed up, according to the lead. He was hoping this break between their meetings with others would find one or both gone, and the prize unguarded by anyone human. He could handle technology just fine.
With a grin, he started toward the address where their rental was, when the side of it exploded in flames. “Flonq!” He ducked flaming debris, drew and slapped a pistol along his hip, and charged into the flaming building. A scent on the wind told him all he needed to know. Seretex had been used, and it was expensive, rare, and the calling card of extremists. He moved slower as he advanced into the building, visibility low. His cybernetic eye shifted and gave him a view of contrasting heat, and allowed him to move a little more surely. “Someone is pissed, that's for sure.” Someone organized.
A moment later, a group of people boiled out of one of the sections, dragging an man in a bedraggled suit. One of them carried a laptop case, and they all wore red, black, and yellow uniforms, uniforms of a very familiar type. He swore again. Of course, it had to be rogue AIM assholes. Of course. Well... what was, was. And he lifted the pistol and fired. His first shot took out the kneecap of one of the man dragging the accountant, for that was surely who it was, and his second took hit the arm of the much closer man who had the laptop. “Lay down your arms, boys. You've been bad boys and I'm here to bring you in.” The A.I.M. soldiers freaked out as they heard his voice and reacted to his shots. They screamed, dove, and fired at him, in differing combinations. “It's a fed! Get him!” His little speech had worked, making them think he was an authority type, which helped a little.
He exchanged fire with one man before knocking him down with a ricochet that bounced into the man's skull from behind, and then charged into the thick of it with a long knife and a gauntlet slipped over his other hand. Stray shots from their blaster type weapons hit supports and walls and added to the destruction of the fire, turning the whole building into a disaster zone.
It was a one-sided fight and he even got his hands on the laptop case, hauling it up and out of their hands, right before the helicopter, heavily modified, sporting guns and other lethal things, and painting in their garish colors, slid out of the sky to hover menacingly in front of the building. Bullet fire from the copter began to chew up debris where he had been standing as he dove behind a section that was a still standing. “Flonq and more flonq their hides!” As he crouched there, planning his next move, he really wished he had brought Domino along. Or even Deadpool.
