Who: Alex and Dominic (and Rosa, indirectly)
What: An email, including the transcript of a sound file
When: April 11th (slightly front-dated)
Dear Dominic,
Agent Bitch Keating just conducted her little interview with me. I recorded it for you. I kind of don't want to send it though because it's I don't really see the point in the questions she asked me, but I suppose there's no understanding the inner workings of the BEA.
Best,
Alex
The snap of a door closing is heard
Rosa: I just need to ask you a few questions, Miss Martin. How about we begin with-- what is that?
Alex: I'm going to record the interview if that's all right with you. D-- Lieutenant Wright asked me to take notes, but this is more accurate.
Pause
Rosa: (thoughtfully) I see. Well then, do as you see fit. I'll be recording you too, so I suppose it's only fair. Now. How long have you been working for the police department?
Alex: Six and a half years, including my training.
Rosa: And you are an evolved human.
Alex: Yes. I have dominant liquid manipulation.
Rosa: And what can you do with this ability?
Alex: Well there's a long list of things I can do with it, but basically I can control any liquid that I want. I can't change its temperature or composition, though. I can only move it.
Rosa: Any liquid?
Alex: Yes.
Rosa: So this comes in handy in your job.
Alex: (A little stiffly) Sometimes, yes.
Rosa: In what ways does it come in handy?
Alex: It's useful in helping me recreate bloodstain patterns that appear at crime scenes.
Rosa: Do you feel that your status as a dominant evo affected the BPD's decision to hire you?
Pause
Alex: (Slowly) No.
Rosa: Hm. Interesting. During your time in the crime lab you ever felt in any way discriminated against?
Alex: (hesitantly) Not really.
Rosa: Not really? Please clarify.
Alex: Well, things happen from time to time. You know. Little things. Comments. Looks. But I don't think it's because I'm an evo, necessarily.
Rosa: Mm. You believe it has more to do with assumed nepotism.
Alex: (taken aback) I.... y-yes. How did you--
Rosa: Everyone has a file, Miss Martin. I am literate. So. You think that you are discriminated against, in a fashion, but it has more to do with your being the former police chief's only daughter, and hired before his retirement. Unfortunately for you, the BEA is not concerned with such things. Are there any particular incidents of harassment you can think of that are directly related to your status as a dominant evo.
Long pause
Rosa: Miss Martin?
Alex: No.
Rosa: Mm. Are you sure of that response, Miss Martin?
Alex: (firmly) Yes.
Rosa: You don't feel sure. I believe there's something you're not telling me.
Alex: (annoyed) There's not. Are we done here?
Rosa: (very subtly amused) If you like. I would expect a follow-up interview in a few weeks, however.
Alex: (Murmurs something indistinct)
Rosa: What's that, Miss Martin?
Alex: I said all right.
Rosa: Thank you, Miss Martin. You've been... helpful.
