Prompt/challenge you're answering: Tomoyo rescues Meiling from some kind of trouble
Excerpt: "You agreed to give Syaoran to Sakura, just as I agreed to give Sakura to Syaoran," Tomoyo said quietly, her fingers gentle in Meiling's hair. "You're making him worry about you."
"Meiling-chan, what were you thinking?"
Tomoyo's steely voice cut through Meiling's head as effectively as a knife and Meiling groaned, hoping for sympathy. No such luck.
"Meiling-chan?"
Meiling mumbled, clutching the blanket around her head.
"Meiling-chan..." Tomoyo said, her voice softening.
"Y's?"
"I'm grateful that you called me instead of attempting to drive, but this isn't healthy."
"Y's'm," Meiling muttered, using as few syllables as possible. She felt as though someone was squeezing her head in the hopes that her brain would pop out.
Tomoyo's hand slipped underneath the blanket, and she stroked Meiling's hair. Her cool fingers were comforting against Meiling's neck.
"You agreed to give Syaoran to Sakura, just as I agreed to give Sakura to Syaoran," Tomoyo said quietly, her fingers gentle in Meiling's hair. "You're making him worry about you."
"D'nt want that," Meiling said into the pillow.
"Enough of this drinking," Tomoyo said firmly. "Next time you're sad, you call me first."
There was a rustle, and then Tomoyo pressed a firm, plastic object into Meiling's hand.
"Ths is a phone for you," she said. "I'll be here, no matter what. You're my friend, Meiling-chan."
"Thank you," Meiling said, and Tomoyo got up off of the bed and left the room, shutting the door gently behind her.
Meiling's head still ached, but she clutched the phone like a lifeline as she drifted back to sleep.
