Who: Ravager (and Arsenal) v. Winter Soldier (Open to Deathstroke...)
NPC: Lian Harper
Where: Central Park, NYC
When: Sept. 16
What: Rose decided to actually try her hand at solo baby-sitting Lian Harper. Just in time for her dad to order a shadowy figure to attack her.
Rating: R for Ravager...
Rose had only ever babysat Lian under the supervision of with Mia, and she was pretty sure that based on everything Mia had done and what Roy had told her that she was supposed to follow bedtime rules for the four-year-old.
But then they went to Central Park and Lian seemed like she was having so much fun: they had hot dogs for dinner and Rose taught her some sword fighting techniques (with plastic swords, she knew that much...) Certainly an unlikely baby-sitter, Rose had agreed because she genuinely liked Lian, plus the young girl managed to have the older female mercenary wrapped around her finger in about five minutes. That was probably shortly after Lian told Rose that she liked her eyepatch and held Rose's hand everywhere they went.
There were other reasons: Roy was an OK person, Mia's older brother type person. Sure, he was hot and got hilariously uncomfortable when she hit on him (which was sheer amusement all on its own), but the one that she would never admit to was that she enjoyed seeing a good father interact with his daughter. It was physically painful and wrenched at her heart to see and made her incredibly envious and angry all at once and yet, she couldn't stop peeking in on what other people had that she never did. It was everything she never had and never would have with Slade.
So by the time they started playing Hide and Seek, Rose was actually thinking she was pretty good at this whole baby-sitting gig. Except that it was getting dark out and she probably should have brought Lian home by now, but Lian kept saying "just one more" with a pouty look on her face and then would run off and hide.
This time, Rose was walking around the Carousel ride, pretending like she couldn't find Lian even though the little girl was giggling. "Man, these horses sure make a lot of noise..." she said to another fit of giggles.
