"Prepare her."
Carol didn't have much time to observe her new surroundings, the men and the computers, before she was pushed into the second, darker room. With her hands cuffed the way they were, all she could do was stumbled forward. Carol could feel her broken leg jar up against the two boards that were used to immobilze it. The bones felt like two pieces of sand paper rubbing together. The flesh shuddered around the fracture. The pain, so intense, threatened to consume completely, and her eyes nearly rolled back into her head. The next few moments were a blur, but she worked through the pain, focusing on the fact she was being grabbed at.
"Get off of me!" She growled.
She could hear the sound of cloth ripping before she felt her flight suit give away as Rashid's men removed her clothes. Carol took the opportunity to fight back when the removed her handcuffs, but she never stood a chance. Still delirious with pain, she tried to throw one of the goons off of her, but she was out numbered three to one.
"I mean it! I'll kill you! All of you! I'll--"
KRAK.
Carol snarled, her declaration was cut short by Rashid's fist making contact with her jaw. Her head jerked to the side with force. She coughed and instinctively her tongue probed the area. Already she could feel her lip start to swll. Carol spat at the ground blood and saliva. ""I...uhhhhnnn..." she mumbled.
"You will do only what I say!" Rashid shouted, charging at her and pushing her down into the chair in the middle of the room. With her leg the way it was, she wasn't balanced and her body fell hard against the unforgiving wood. Rashid's men were ready to pounce and it didn't take long for the rest of her flight suit to be removed completely. Again she struggled against as thick shackles secured her in place with two klinks. "Damn it! Let me go! Let me go!" She turned her head to shout at Ghazi Rashid before he left her alone in the dark room.
Sometime later...
"I get it, Ghazi. Strip me down to humiliate me. Strap me in the chair to scare me. So why fix my leg in the first place?" Her eyes strained to see him from where he stood, still concealed in shadow, just outside of the small beam of light produced by a single lightbulb hanging over head.
"Your leg was set as a gift to you. A gift you have refused," he said stepping partially into the light holding two alligator clamps. He sparked them together, blue electricity arcing across the short distance. "This...this is what we will use to discuss why you refused my gift."
"Torture. You've run out of ideas that quickly, Ghazi?" Carol narrowed her eyes.
"You can give me nothing. And I can give you torture. Or you can tell me why your masters have abandoned us. Why Ascension is not where I was told it would be. Tell me these things and I can give you peace. Or...I can give you this." Rashid turned from her momentarily and was now brandishing a sledge hammer. He hefted it in his hands and she could tell by the action that it wasn't light. A growl rumbled over her larynx. "For this, Major Danvers, is what I give you once all my other gifts are gone." Taking the clamps up again, he brought them together once more, sparks flying and sizzling on contact.
"Where is Ascension?"
"You're speaking gibberish."
"Where is Ascension?"
"I've never heard of it, jackass. I've never heard of Ascension and you need to get that through your --"
Rashid struck forward making contact with Carol. All she could do was scream out as, who knew how many volts, coursed through her body. In that moment she knew nothing but pain in its purest and rawest form. Her body convulsed in response. Rashid finally pulled away and her head immediately sagged forward, her chest rapidly rising and falling as she pulled in quick breaths.
"Where is Ascension?" He asked again.
It took all of her strength to look up at him. Still panting and through clenched teeth, "Major. Carol. Danvers. United States. Air. Force."
To be continued...
