WHO: Menelaus and Helen
WHEN: Thursday night
WHAT: A friendly face...
Other than work, Menelaus' life revolved around his parenting. His dinner's often were with six year old. He didn't consider this with Helen as a date, just two old friends. He'd let Arianna spend the night with the sweet lady next door who was like a grandmother to her. When he needed a little time to himself, the older woman often took Arianna (especially when her granddaughter was staying with her).
Menelaus had thought about actually cooking something for Helen, but his nerves were just too bundled to think about it. He needed a grown-up face, someone who knew him that he didn't have to pretend with. When he heard the knock on the door, he thought it was the food he'd ordered over, but it was Helen. His first instinct was to hold her (gods knew he needed it), but he let her in without trying to show that his world was shattering at his feet.
The letter on his dining room table was one from a pair of lawyers, serving him custody papers. His ex-wife had not even seen Arianna and she was already taking the next step to destroying him. He needed someone, and he had never expected it would be another old flame. This time he was alone and did not have an army of soldiers to do his bidding.
