WHO: Mary & Huitzilopitchli
WHEN: Thursday afternoon (2011-10-14)
WHERE: Their place
WHAT: Moooooooody Mary
WARNINGS: language, tba
Mary had sent Judas a message and when Judas finally replied it was to mock her and what had happened between them. As though Mary needed more reason to despise the man.
So she took her anger out on the only people who happened to be nearby at the time: two of Huitzilopitchli's warriors who had to deal with their masters mistress screaming obscenities at them and then slapping one across the face.
Her palm burned still as she stalked around the makeshift kitchen, not really hungry but not sure what else to do. Making food seemed like a thing that could at least distract her mind. But then she couldn't get one of the glass bowls clean and with a growl of frustration she flung it against the wall.
Huitzilopochtli heard about the angry outburst a bit later, when the warriors raised a complaint. All of them had learned never to hit women. None of them were suicidal enough to raise a hand against the woman their God considered his. But they were allowed to complain when they felt they hadn't earned it. And as far as Huitzilopochtli could see, they had not.
He'd stepped off the perch he'd made for himself on the railing of the balcony and wandered inside to where Mary was, glancing to the pieces of the glass bowl on the floor. "I liked that one."
He tilted his head before reaching down and picking the pieces up. No need to get his feet bloody. "Did the warriors say something to you, to earn your anger?"

"Well, now you can like it in pieces," Mary said, glaring at the shattered class and crossing her arms as he went to pick it up. She should have helped. That would have been more gracious. But Mary didn't feel so full of grace in that moment.
With a sigh she realised that of course they would have said something about the Christian going mad. "No," she finally said after a few moments. "They were just... there."

He looked up, not understanding her anger. He was aware enough to know that he made a lot of mistakes, but before he did his warriors tended to at least give him their opinions. So he didn't think he had done anything. "I liked it better in one piece." He could get another one, but he tried not to break too much. It didn't help anything.
He blinked before tossing the bigger pieces away. He'd set one of the warriors to clean it up a bit better. Calmly he rose. "Okay. Mary I hardly mind if you argue with them, or if you correct them when they offend you. What I mind is taking anger out on them when they do not warrant it. Loyalty is not gained by taking out anger on those who would protect you. I do not know why you are angry. If I did something, it is best to discuss it with me. Do not reflect your feelings on them."

Mary walked over to him and put her hands on his shoulders, looking into his eyes seriously. "You didn't do anything," she said to him, needing him to know that much. "I promised you that I'd tell you when you did wrong, and I do and I always will." She dropped her hands. "I'm sorry I struck your warrior. I'll apologise to him later if he'll let me."
She sighed. "Judas, he wrote to me, he was mocking me. I... didn't take it well." That last part was muttered as it was rather obvious.

He listened and paid close mind because he had promised to learn. He was older then her, but so much less aware of how things go. And how he learned wasn't always the best answer. "I know this." He nodded, taking her hand in his, "he will listen. It is merely that a warrior who remembers the one who he fights for may cause him the same amount of pain his enemy causes him is less inclined to fight as hard."
"Oh," he set his free hand on his cheek. "I am looking. This city is large and I have a name and description. I must still find out if he is someone that will be missed. A high profile death is not as easy to explain as one no one cares about."

"I know, and I'm sorry. I like your warriors and I had no right to take anything out on them." She didn't like being angry and violent, it wasn't who she was supposed to be, she was sure of that. Maybe it would have been better if time hadn't changed her so much. "Forgive me for my temper?"
Mary shook her head gently. "I don't blame you for being being able to find him. Judas is a spineless snake probably hiding underneath some rock."

He smiled to her, releasing her. "Always. My own temper is bright at times. They will understand if you explain your agitation with this Judas. Not everything, but some. They like you Mary, if only because I am more human now." He smiled at her, "they will fight for you all the harder if they know some of the reasoning. I learned a long time ago that fear does not sustain a leader. Honor and trust do much more."
Gently he guided her over the sharp pieces left behind. "You are one of them now. Show them trust, and they will defend you until time stops." He frowned for a moment, "snakes do not have spines. Either way, we will find him and put him to the blade."

"They'll understand something about Judas already," Mary admitted. "They were all raised here in this society. It's almost impossible to escape Christian ideas completely and he's famous for being a complete dickhead. But maybe I should say something, you're right." Not about fucking that asshole though. That was staying with her (and the hummingbird).
Mary thought snakes were pretty much all spine, but that wasn't really the point so she let it go. "I'm one of your warriors, am I?" Mary asked, smiling a little at the idea. Who would have thought the Magdalen would be some Aztec warrior for her Aztec boyfriend?

He liked to think that his warriors knew to worship him from birth, but some had defected from Christianity, and some had followed it for a while. He set a hand on her shoulder. "Tell him how personal the betrayal was. They will understand better. None of them like traitors, but someone like that they will enjoy hunting."
He chuckled, "in a way, yes. You do not worship me, but would fight for me. They know I care for you. That alone earns respect." He would not say how some called her his consort now, and he made sure they didn't repeat it for her to hear. He didn't know how she would take that, and he did not want her to have guilt for who she was. "But you still owe me a bowl. I liked that one. It was blue." He smirked, "were you hungry?"

Mary just nodded, already wishing to escape the subject of Judas. She'd be more happy about it when he lost his head though.
"I'll always fight for you," Mary promised him, touching his cheek for just a moment. Hadn't she already proved that with Lucifer, after all? She'd almost gotten herself killed for him and didn't regret it at all. "And I'll get you another blue bowl, something practical and pretty. But I'm not really hungry. I just needed to do something with my hands, you know? Or else I might start hitting more of your worshippers."

He smiled to her, leaning down to kiss her. "I know this." he grinned then, "next time? Come use them on me. I hardly mind." He grinned teasingly before drawing back. He was learning how to tease better. "Alright. I figured you may be a bit cooped up in here so I was going to suggest raking you out." he smiled to her, "but I am at your service."

"Well, yeah," Mary said with an eyeroll at herself. "Next time I'll try and not go crazy, but I can't promise anything." With a heavy sigh she ran her hand through her hair. "Let's get out of here, some fresh air and no walls."

He shrugged, "We all have our moments. I know I go on and on about Cortez and Columbus. Everyone gets their own thing." He nodded, "let me put on a shirt so people do not wonder and we will go out." He released her, talking to the warriors long enough to get them to clean out the remnants of the bowl before dressing and re-appearing.

"I don't think anyone would complain if you didn't have a shirt," she called after him as she followed and then waited by the door for him. When he appeared she slipped her arm through his, leaning her head against his shoulder for just a moment.

He laughed and set his lips on her head, keeping her arm through his. "I believe your bias is speaking. It is autumn. My lack of shirt would be noted, despite my lack of needing one." Smiling he lead her out of the door and into the streets, taking her lead on where to go.

"You'd be all nippley in the wind," she teased with a smirk. "But it's true that I don't want you catching your death of cold, you'll ruin my day."

He didn't really understand her first reference, but decided not to ask. "That would be unlikely. I have yet to get ill, except once I am still remembered enough to where illnesses do not affect me. Besides I am still sun. Catching cold would be...strange."

Mary decided not to say anything more along those lines but she was smiling with amusement as he spoke. "You're right," Mary conceded for him. "Silly, silly me." The sun above was still warm, even in autumn, and Mary - in her thin jacket - was warm enough, especially with him so close.

"What?" he noticed her smile and he figured he'd said or done something to earn it. He didn't mind. He knew he had plenty of things that were often considered odd.
He liked this though, being able to be close and walk with her. With a smile he set his arm around her, keeping her close.

He smirked, "you say that a lot." But his smile turned warmer at her next words. He always liked knowing he was helping her. "I am glad I am, that was my intent. I do try and do what I can."
