Who: Higher Education and 4chan
When: Wednesday afternoon
Where: 4chan’s “battle station”
What: Dropping off Kool-Aid
Finding out the 4chan’s apartment had required the creative application of Google maps and recognizable landmarks; in hindsight, Higher Education wondered if the vaguer-than-appreciated directions he’d been given were in retaliation for not simply giving 4chan an address when he first visited. As a chill worked its way up his spine – that supposed “superblizzard” was predicted to hit this weekend; it would be prudent to pack up his files and bring them home with him on Friday – he pulled the collar of his coat a little higher and reminded himself that at this rate, any purpose for events that exist in the past could be seen as being arbitrary, depending on the philosophical school of thought. Similar to how the “flavors” of the packages of drink mix currently sitting in his coat pocket really didn’t mean much, as it was all the same –
Dear god, was this really where he lived? The apartment building standing before him looked surprisingly…normal. Sane, even, although then again Winkies’ Diner seemed normal to the man in Mulholland Drive too, in the beginning. There were markedly less bin fires than he’d been expecting, anyway, and with the sunlight hitting the building the entire situation seemed agreeable.
Might as well try to find the apartment before the mood changed, then. Higher Education still had no idea what “seeing [4chan’s] battle station” would entail. He entered the complex and began climbing the stairs, checking his phone – and the short email he’d been sent; ”come at me bro,” how lovely – for verification. Finally he was at the right floor and, shortly after, the right apartment. He paused, sniffed absentmindedly for gas, admitted to himself that he was being unkind, and knocked.
