Who: Samson and Delilah
What: Random run-in
When: Friday afternoon
Where: Park
Note: Reposted as a favour
After an eventful week, Samson took the day off to collect himself. To take a breather and forget as best he could the awkward position he'd been put in at the hands of some meddling immortal. He sat there on the park bench with his Bible, focused solely on the word under his fingertips and nothing more. It was the one place he could go without feeling pressured by the rest of the world.
His chat with Delilah had pushed him further into his belief that she would always be a distraction to him. He couldn't allow that any more, or to allow her to get up under his skin. If he was nothing more to her than some pity party, he didn't want to indulge her anymore. He knew she was letting jealousy bite at her heels and quite frankly it was unnecessary. He had every right to be angry with her.

The jealousy was not something she appreciated feeling. Knowing Samson had been with another had crawled under her skin for the entire day and had put her in a foul mood. A dim part of her pointed her hypocrisy out, but she ignored it.
Then the woman he'd spend his day with had the gall to call her unpleasant.
It had resulted in Samson washing his hands off her and she would not admit how much it hurt. She'd escaped her apartment to walk along the park. It always calmed her, even in these cold temperatures.
When she noticed Samson she sighed then rolled her eyes. She just continued on her path, as if he wasn't truly there.

With his shades placed over his eyes to keep the bright sun out from his already sensitive eyesight, he continued letting his fingers slide over the pages of the Bible. He had it on audiobook but sometimes it just felt better to sense the word. He was accustomed to braille long before they had anything such as ipods and headphones. There was some comfort in it, though times he longed to be able to see like he once had. He chalked it up as a learning curve, that God did not allow it this time for various reasons.
He could smell her perfume, the way the wind whipped in her hair even as she passed by without so much as a word. She didn't have the right to be the one to ignore him. He had all the reason in the world to be upset with her and yet she threw it in his face.
He closed the book, facing her though he could not see her through the glasses. "Do you really have the right to walk away from me?" it should have been the other way around.

"I have every right to walk away from you." He'd told her he wanted nothing more to do with her, so she wouldn't stop for him. What words would she have for him? Their tale would always be the same.
There would be no point in keeping a conversation so she continued to walk, drawing the coat tighter around her frame. "Go back to your precious book and leave me be."

Samson sighed heavily beating himself in the head for even broaching the subject again. They would always have run-ins like this. Did they just keep going or confront it. The word always told him to go with what he felt was right. Only what his heart was beating for continued to use him like some puppet on a string.
"Delilah," he said simply, clear anger in his voice. "You don't have any right to be jealous or angry. If I'm the pity story that you sing so clearly about---why bother?"

She groaned and paused, "for one I am neither jealous nor angry. For two I am not bothering, I am walking. You said you wished nothing to do with me, so why would I pause to start a conversation with you Samson? I am leaving you be, just as you requested." She gave him a smile he couldn't see.
"So do forgive me if I'm not planning to avoid you just for your sake. I plan on ignoring you."

"I don't believe you." His jaw clenched slightly still annoyed that she thought she could continue playing this kind of game. Lying and using him, but he knew better when he'd first let her back in.

"Heaven forbid you believe me." She rolled her eyes and continued on her path. She was doing exactly what he wanted her to do and still he was angry at her, while she felt she had every right to be angry as well.

"I have no reason to," her past wasn't exactly creditable. He stood up then. "What reason do you have to be angry?" He pressed. He wasn't going to lose this time, not this battle. He was justified for feeling this way after what she'd put him through.

"So why follow me?" She glanced to him but continued on her walk. Honestly it was like he expected her to be different now. "I am not angry, for the third time." yet she was, even if she denied it to herself. "Why do you insist on following me, even when we have nothing more to say to one another?"

"Because I want to hear the truth." He wanted her to admit to it, to stop this. Because he couldn't stop loving her no matter how much he forced himself to forget her.

"Truth is subjective to perspective and opinion. And you can have your version of it and I'll have mine." She glanced to him. "And my truth is that I am not angry, and would like to continue on my walk."

"As you wish," he said with a tinge of hatefulness that he'd not once shown her yet. He may have cursed her before under his breath, hated her with a fire, but he'd not blamed her for anything until now.
Samson shook his head, carrying that Bible under his arm and turning to walk off.
