Noah paused for a moment and wiped his sweaty forehead with his forearm. Since beginning work an hour ago, he'd shed his sweatshirt and tied it around his waist. He thought about shucking the henley he wore as well, but wanted the marginal protection its long sleeves gave him. It hadn't taken long to get scratched up in spite of long sleeves and gloves, but it was pretty much par for the course when working out in wooded areas.
Uncapping his water bottle, he took a long drink and then looked around. He wasn't in charge of this work party--Kelly Thompson was. He'd owed her a favor, and she'd called it in when her work party turned out short a few members. Spring was always a lot of work for park volunteers, and while there was never a shortage of projects, there often were shortages of people to do the projects. Later he'd go over to the Botanical Gardens and poke around, see if they needed a hand (they always did). This project was only from nine until one, so he had plenty of time to get everything done today he needed to do.
Marcus went by with a wheelbarrow full of mulch, most likely for the new shrub borders and Noah shouldered his shovel and followed.
