They were newlyweds. Their days were spent wandering arm in arm around their Manor and through exclusive shops and down the hidden, gracious streets of Wizarding Europe. Their evenings were spent doing those things that newlyweds gloried in within the confines of their home. They had not been apart for more than a few moments since they spoke their vows before the cream of Pureblood Society.
He did not want to be separated from her now, but needs must when the devil drives. Especially when that figurative devil was your sworn Lord.
Lucius slipped from their bed in the near-dark and quietly dressed in dark colored underrobes and heavy, sadly plebeian boots. From a heavily warded hidden compartment within the wardrobe, he pulled out a distinctive set of black robes and a white and silver mask. With one last, longing look at his beautiful sleeping wife, he stepped silently out into the hall where he paused to put on his Death Eater robes and mask.
His Dark Mark brand was burning. He could no longer afford to tarry.
