About: | PLAYER RULES 1) Don't be a jerk. Don't godmode, don't take IC into OOC, don't take OOC into IC, don't steal plot, be patient if someone can't post very often, post NSFW and possibly triggering material under a cut with a warning. Basically, just don't be a jerk. 2) This is an anonygame. That means that no one should know who is playing what character. If you tell people who you are playing, we cannot stop you, but please honor the spirit of the game. 2a) That said, one character from each player is permitted to break anonymity to one other player. This is meant to facilitate character relationships, for example bringing in characters who are siblings/family, married, or otherwise very closely attached to each other. Again, this can happen more than once and we would never know, but please honor the spirit of the game. 2b) If you do decide to break anonymity and apply two characters together, feel free to send in their applications together. They will be considered together, but each character must still have their own profile/application/wikipages. 2c) The mod characters are indeed played by the mods. 3) Since this is an anonymous game, we have rules about how to contact other players. Each character will have a dropbox/contact post on his/her journal, and the mod account will have a dropbox specifically for mod questions/comments/etc. Private messages are also available as a method of communication between players, as are talk pages on the wiki, but since no notification is sent in either case, character dropboxes are the most reliable method. (Communication between characters will occur on the mtowncomm community.) 4) We do not have posting or activity requirements, but if we don't hear from you at all for three full months, we will assume you have left the game. 5) Characters who have left the game are considered to be available once more. If the initial player of the character is willing to allow their version of the character to be adopted, that is an option. If not, a new version of the character can be created by a new player. If either of those two reactivations occur, the initial player cannot 'reclaim' the character later - once a character is given up, he or she belongs to whoever picks her/him up next. Character Rules: 1) Chromatic/unusual casting is required. Genderswaps are OK, but chromatic casting is preferred. 1a) If a character already is a minority or person of color, you are allowed to keep a generally appropriate PB, but we would like to see some other change to the character - a genderswap, a much older/younger age (depending on the canonical age of the character), heavyset, physical disability, etc. 1b) While we encourage play of minorities who may not be visible in icons (for example: alternate sexuality, invisible disabilities, religion) this game is in part a reaction to the racebending community, and we would prefer a visible representation in addition to any other changes you make. 1c) The mods are aware that we may screw this up. While we mean no offense, please let us know if we do, and we will fix it. 2) Any Marvel comics character is playable, from any line, background, or universe. As long as the character actually appeared in a Marvel product, he or she is playable. 3) Since there will be no or very little duplication of characters at the same time as 'alternate universe' versions are allowed, it is possible that character backstories will need to be altered to suit the new universe. It is best to regard each character as a blank slate and fill in the backstory creatively, with an eye to canon but not requiring it on all points. 4) First come, first served. If a character is established in-game, they are that character. New characters who wish to have backstory with that character need permission from/plotting with the player. Otherwise, they must shift their character's backstory. Example: Scott Summers is put into play before Jean Grey. Jean's player wants her to be married to Scott, but Scott's player is not interested. Jean's player must then come up with a new name for Jean's NPC husband, see if any other currently-played characters are interested in the connection, or shift Jean's backstory to suit the lack of husband. All rules are subject to be added to at any time. | ||||||||||
