Monday night; The Slaughtered Lamb; Emily OTA/MW
Since Tuesday was Emily's first day off in way over a week, she decided to pop into the Slaughtered Lamb after work. The time was closing in on midnight when she wandered in with her red scooter helmet, nodding a hello to Molly who went past her collecting empty glasses.

The woman in her blue jeans and black jacket walked to the counter looking around if she saw anyone familiar, and when she sat down, she tugged the ponytail off her hair and let her wavy brown locks fall free on her shoulders before she got to make her order.

"Hey, I'll have a cider, please."

"Sure thing," Jack said, giving her a smile and fetching the drink. It had been a while since he'd had the chance to take a shift at the Lamb but Kara had finally pinned him down.

Emily had not seen this bartender on her last visit to the bar, but then again it had also been her first. She opened her jacket and shifted to a more comfortable position on the stool as the man got her the cider.

"Should have known - a quiet night," she commented. Her chances of unwinding usually were on days when nothing exciting was bound to happen.

"Monday's usually are here," Jack said, setting the glass down in front of her. "Everyone recovering from the weekend hangovers. You live at the Manor don't you? I've seen you around. I'm Jack. Work maintenance there when I'm not here."

Emily looked up at Jack with her eyebrows raised. "Oh? Oh! Now that you mentioned that, I might have seen you hanging around. Yes, I'm Emily, I moved in not very long time ago," she smiled and extended her right hand over the counter to him.

Jack took it and shook.

"Pleasure to finally meet you," he said, looking her over subtley. Very nice. "You ever need anything I'm in the Manor phone book. So how have you been liking it? The Manor I mean."

Emily, despite being fit and generally pretty and feminine, was not in the habit of emphasizing it. She wore next to no make up, her nails were short and natural and at closer examination, her hands were filled with old scars of cuts and burns here and there, and she wore no jewelry whatsoever.

"Ah, I think I've actually already looked you up once, as disturbing as that sounds now," she laughed. "Due to a strange chain of events, I got locked out of my apartment one night. A friend called to get you to open the door for me but someone else entirely came up to give me the key," she said and made a face shivering, before she took a sip of her cider. "Creepy fella. Otherwise I've loved it."

"Ruprecht. My boss," Jack said and made the same face. "Creepy is a nice term if you ask me. Well next time I'll do my very best to be the one to come help."

Emily took another gulp of the cold cider and smiled. "I have sort of planned not to lock myself out anymore. At least not in the middle of the night," she said. "I really could do without the embarrassment."

"Ah everyone does it at least once," Jack said, leaning on the bar to chat since he had no other customers at the moment. "Nothing to be embarrassed about. Besides," he smirked a bit, "gives me an excuse to come rescue pretty women."

Emily laughed and waved her hand. "Oh God knows that I've been getting very good at being a damsel in distress! But you know, somebody has to do it, or all you princes and knights on your white horses would have nothing to do, right?" she grinned.

"But thank you. I'll remember your offer the next time I need someone on whose arms to swoon upon," she kept chuckling.

Jack gave her a galant bow. "I am but here to serve," he said and winked.

Emily just giggled and sipped her cider. "In that case, sir knight, you might as well help me satisfy my curiosity. The Lamb serves food as well, right? Can I take a look at the menu?"

She had no intention of ordering, but she was merely letting her professional interest take over.

"Yep."

Jack reached beneath the bar and pulled out the menu, handing it over.

"Mostly your typical bar food but then there's also a few honest to gosh Irish recipes."

The woman studied the menu for a strangely long time with a concentrated frown. She seemed to be going through every dish listed, and then she finally leaned back as if looking at the big picture.

"Mmh-hmm," she said. During the whole time she had not smiled. "Quite typical indeed. But as you said there are one or two interesting dishes, yes." Then she closed the menu and handed it back to Jack, and finally flashed a smile. "Thank you. I'm not ordering anything, I just wanted to take a look."
