You know how you can buy those special boxes to keep fruit safe in your lunch box? I think you should be able to buy one of those for your heart. Something you can put it in to stop it being bruised. Love bruises a heart the easiest. Loving someone when they don't love you, loving someone when they love someone else. If only we didn't love so easily we'd be ok.
But it's hard not to. You watch someone you like being hurt by the one they love and you feel anger at that person for treating what they have so badly. Bad people always get the best things. Why does that work? Why does being mean to people and ignoring them get you love? I've seen it happen twice now to friends. Should I be mean? should I not care so much? Would I then be lucky?
