Welcome!
Mind Over Meta has been started to provide a multifandom IJ site for any sort of non-fanfic writing about your favorite books/shows/films/comics/etc. Whether it's a character analysis, a ship discussion, a review of filming techniques, or a humor piece on the way Book 3 was way better than Book 4, you're free to post it here.

For now there are only three rules for posting:

(1) Please cut tag after your first paragraph. You can link to your post if you'd like, but the post should be made here on IJ, not elsewhere.

(2) Avoid fandom rants. This site is for meta about particular fan texts, not meta about fandom in general (or anyone in fandom). The very helpful [info]meta_roundup is a more general meta asylum, and you may want to comment there with a link for any such posts.

(3) Posts can be about cross-fandom topics, say a comparison of the British navy in PotC and Horatio Hornblower. They can also be a question to your fandom about an issue (e.g., Why does it seem that there are no vids about any other Elves in LotR except Legolas?)

These rules may be added to as needed should problems arise. Any questions, please ask!

Um. Okay, I feel a bit silly asking this, but I'm having difficulties seeing where to draw the line -- meaning, even when I post about specific characters, often fandom or feminist / queer issues creep in, too. So, would entries like this one qualify?

And, please, feel free to delete this thread when the questions are answered! As I said, I feel a tad uncomfortable that I had to ask at all (damn you, language issues, and damn you, anxiety).

Not at all! That's what a question thread is for :>

Sure, I'd think that would qualify. Mostly, I just wanted a place for posting stuff that sources like metafandom don't tend to cover, things like internal meta on the fandom text. But if that brings up larger issues in the fandom itself, that's fine with me.

Essentially I didn't want it to focus on overarching fandom issues, say like the whole LJ/6A issues or FanLib or such which have to do with the fans themselves rather than what a particular fandom is about, if you see what I mean?

Ah! I think now I get it. (And internal meta on the text are awesome! There are quite a few fandoms where I really miss that. We already mentioned SPN, but I also was devastated to see there was hardly any Doctor Who or Torchwood meta. Instead there was, um, lots of 'ship wars. And I'm so not into that.)
